When Ihattaren returns, like all Ajax players, he is welcome on the training field." I don't think he will be registered for the I am disappointed in that because he looked much better recently. He did eventually make his debut for Ajax before he sensationally stopped training and moved into hiding following reported threats from a criminal gang. After joining Ajax on a year-long loan in January, previous manager Erik ten Hag was furious at his condition after he was reportedly several pounds overweight. But talented 20-year-old playmaker Ihattaren - who is on loan from Juventus - looks set to miss out as his bizarre career path took another twist.

The former striker has urged Gio van Bronckhorst to splash the cash before the window closes on Thursday.

If everybody was to stay, I still think the Champions League gives you the ability to go and strengthen the squad and give it a healthier look to fire on four fronts. "For me, a striker potentially, depending on Alfredo and Kemar Roofe's fitness. Even a centre-back needs to maybe be looked at. Versatile American international [James Sands](https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/all-about/james-sands) has formed a solid partnership with Connor Goldson in recent weeks but Miller reckons his former club could do with an additional stopper, despite also having the likes of Davies, Souttar, Leon King, Filip Helander and Niko Katic challenging for the same position. Elsewhere, the right midfield position remains short of genuine quality. And with three goals in the first 25 minutes, it looked like the game could be heading in only one direction. However, the visitors kept the deficit at one as the half time whistle blew. Good link up play from Queens but Devine just manages to play the ball out for a Queen of the South corner. Davis to Ridvan who sends it all the way up to Robbie Ure who looks keen for a second. It is out for a Rangers throw on the left hand side near the corner as Queens looks to squeeze the play in. It is in a dangerous position 25 yards from the corner of the box. The teen has a go but might have wanted it earlier from Matondo to stand a better chance. The subs link up well but it is safely with Currie in the Queen of the South goal. A beautiful volley from Arfield as it falls to him outside the box. It was impressive from Queen of the South who battled it out at Ibrox, but the Govan side are 3-1 victors. It was far from an easy night, with Queen of the South putting up a fight for much of the 90 minutes. And the scoreline remained the same for the majority of the second 45.

Rangers 3-1 Queen of the South player ratings as Robbie Ure hits ... (Scottish Daily Express)

Rangers are in to the quarter final of the Premier Sports Cup.

Robbie Ure 8 - A great debut goal inside ten minutes with a cool finish and some nice attempted link-up from the kid. Made a shocker of a back-pass that led to the equaliser. Scott Arfield 9 - A great powerful run to get on the end of Yilmaz's cross for the second. Played a good part in the second goal. Glen Kamara 7 - Selfless cutback to Ure for the first goal and general neat play in the middle. Fashion Sakala 6 - Looked lively and eager to get on the ball early, latched on well for the first goal. Also in from the start was young Adam Devine at right-back, with the 19-year-old forcing a save from Currie after he was slipped in by Matondo, before Robbie Ure took a great turn and forced another save from the Doonhammers' goalie before half time. The game quietened down before Arfield had another pop at goal from outside the area that went wide from a volley. Queen of the South found a slight rhythm with their passing but often found long balls the only avenue for a meaningful attack. There were more than a few glimpses of goal, however, with Rangers young backline having to deal with threats across the box. [Queen of the South](https://www.scottishdailyexpress.co.uk/all-about/queen-of-the-south-fc) with a 3-1 victory at Ibrox. Besuijen then put daylight between the teams when he slotted home a low angled effort from eight yards out just before the end of the first additional period. The Dons got themselves back in front when Lopes headed home in the 97th minute from a Clarkson corner. The goal seemed to have taken the sting out of Annan's play and Aberdeen almost netted again in the 67th minute when Jayden Richardson fired a powerful shot just over after latching on to a Besuijen cutback inside the box. Any doubts about the outcome ended in the 85th minute when a clever backheel from McCann set up Arfield to stroke the ball into the net from just inside the box. It took Aberdeen 55 minutes to make the breakthrough against their lowly hosts when Besuijen met a low delivery from Jack MacKenzie and forced the ball over the line from close range despite the best efforts of Fleming to scramble it out. There was still an occasionally disjointed look about the home side after the break, with the Palmerston side threatening to take advantage of any slip-ups and in the 63rd minute Devine sliced a clearance from six yards just over his own crossbar.

Gers ended the evening with six youngsters on the pitch in what can be considered an excellent night from a B team and youth squad point of view.
