With the summer transfer window about to end, HITC Sport take a look back at the worst deadline day signings by Premier League clubs in 2021.

The Blues agreed to pay Tuchel would ultimately opt against purchasing Saul, having only started the 27-year-old in five of his 10 Premier League appearances. The Hammers agreed to pay [Sky Sports](/en-gb/2022/08/28/jamie-carragher-hammers-stupid-tottenham-player-for-moment-in-first-half/) (28/8, 16:35) of Emerson’s tackle on Harry Toffolo of Nottingham Forest during Tottenham’s 2-0 win on Sunday. Yet Moyes would not trigger the Irons’ purchase clause, having rarely shown faith in Kral over his time in east London. Vlasic failed to make the grade during his sole season so far at the London Stadium after a year on the fringes. West Ham also contributed an initial [£26.8m](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58388047), up to £34.5m with add-ons, to bring Vlasic back to England following his short spell with Everton. Tottenham failing to sign a new wing-back in January did not aid Emerson’s cause, either, as Matt Doherty emerged as Conte’s favoured option. Moyes felt Vlasic could replace what Jesse Lingard had given West Ham while on loan from Manchester United over the first half of 2021. The Croatian playmaker’s move to Italy also has a Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United were made to rue some of Nuno Espirito Santo and David Moyes’ late forays into the market last summer. Whilst Vlasic has already left West Ham on loan, possibly without a return in sight.

Transfer deadline day 2022: Antony, Arthur Melo, Aubameyang and ... (The Guardian)

Arsenal intend to test Aston Villa's stance that Douglas Luiz is not for sale with a bid of about £20m. The Brazil midfielder is out of contract next season ...

James Garner is off to Everton. Now they’ve landed the versatile Ainsley Maitland-Niles on a season-long loan from Arsenal. “Manchester City’s Sam Edozie has signed for Southampton for a fee that could rise to £10m,” reports Jamie Jackson. Memphis Depay has decided to stay at Barcelona. Manchester City’s 18-year-old defender Juan Larios is the latest to make the journey south to Southampton. Melo joins on a season-long loan from Juve, and Liverpool will stump up the majority of his wages. The path from the Etihad to St Mary’s is becoming very well trodden this summer. The fee is undisclosed, but rumoured to be £15m once add-ons are factored in. As expected, James Garner has made the move from Old Trafford to Goodison Park. Premier League bottom club Leicester City have done next to nothing in this transfer window. If you’d like to support our work, from as little as £1, Arsenal tried hard all day and made three bids, the final last-ditch attempt totalling £25m, but Aston Villa were not for turning and Mikel Arteta will have to go with what he’s got.

Apparently, the move would be to facilitate PSG's Financial Fair Play commitments. Fulham are the latest club to be linked with a move for the unlikely Chilean superstar, after West Ham, Leeds, Tottenham, Sevilla, Nice and Salernitana. Marco Silva decided to hand a contract to the Brazilian 33 year old, which will expire at the end of the season. The Gambian was always likely to leave the La Liga giants, following Barca's capture of Robert Lewandowski earlier in the summer, and has cost the Blues just €14m. The Scotland star has grow frustrated at a lack of playing time and, evidently, still hasn't got over that bizarre loan to Norwich. Deal expected to be confirmed in the next few hours. That brings to an end one of the most pointless transfer sagas of the summer, with absolutely nobody benefiting from the outcome. It looks like number 21 is on his way to Forest this summer, with French defender Loic Bade is reportedly set to join from Rennes. He'll undergo a medical with the Reds this afternoon ✈️🇬🇧 @Goalitalia @Goal pic.twitter.com/6TNQiHwfug Will this come back to bite the Leicester boss? 🚨🔵 #BCFCMaja will fly to England tonight in order to complete medical tests as first thing in the morning. Newcastle United transfer news LIVE: Deadline day as it happens (ChronicleLive)

All the latest Newcastle United transfer news on deadline day as Eddie Howe and Co look to do the final business of the summer window.

I think the recruitment with Eddie Howe and Dan Ashworth’s came to the club as well who did a brilliant job at Brighton, I think the club is ticking along nicely. The recruitment last January, the right style of player, a player who’s going to commit to the club - Guimares is the perfect example. Tielemans has entered the final year of his contract with the Foxes, and is expected to seek a move away next summer as a free agent. The Slovakia international told Eddie Howe he had no interest in deputising for Nick Pope at 33-year-old and his agent promptly fixed up a switch to Old Trafford. [Eddie Howe](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/all-about/eddie-howe) will no doubt be pleased with the club's business in his second window in charge, with deals agreed for Sven Botman, Alexander Isak, Nick Pope and Matt Targett. Newcastle United prospect Kell Watts has secured a loan move to Peterborough United until January. However, Dibling has returned to Southampton within weeks of making the move. That is the view of ChronicleLive's chief Newcastle United writer Lee Ryder, who has also provided an update on the Magpies interest in Joao Pedro. Howe feels there is a good foundation at Newcastle and is looking to bring in quality but also ensure they dovetail well with the existing squad. The Glazers' ownership of Manchester United has again come under scrutiny after Erik ten Hag's suffered a difficult start to the season. The former AFC Bournemouth boss refused to alter the wage budget for the simple reason he did not want to cause any disharmony behind the scenes with the bulk of the squad that had helped Newcastle stay in the Premier League. Martin Dubkravka could be on the way to Manchester United, while there has been interest in several players.

You will all have a special place in my heart. And now the young centre-half has made the move to Alloa for the rest of the 2022/23 campaign. Stephen Kelly has made the move to Livingston on a three-year deal. [Aberdeen](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/all-about/aberdeen-fc) striker Christian Ramirez has been touted with a move to Tynecastle, but David Bates looks to be the only high-profile name that has left Pittodrie. I will be forever grateful to Rubin Kazan for my time in Kazan. The defender made his debut for the Fir Park club at the end of the 2018/19 season before a spell on loan at Queen of the South. [Hearts](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/all-about/hearts-fc) as injuries have left him needing some bodies in. Oliver Abildgaard has completed his move to Celtic on a season-long loan deal to become the ninth summer signing of a busy summer transfer window for the champions. [Christian Ramirez](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/all-about/christian-ramirez) has taken to social media to offer a veiled response to boss Jim Goodwin with the frontman set to remain at Pittodrie on deadline day. The 26 year old has joined on loan from Juventus until the end of the season, a deal that has no obligation to buy, as the Reds reel from the blow of news Jordan Henderson becomes the latest midfielder to succumb to injury. The American has been vocal on social media in expressing his anger over the lack of movement. [Hibs](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/all-about/hibernian-fc) transfer appeared to be on but there has been silence on a move from Easter Road.

Pond, who is expected to link up with the Under-21 side, is at the training ground finalising the move. No comment from Leeds about this but various sources indicating they might have found a way to do Wilfried Gnonto from Zurich.
