Southampton have dropped more points from winning positions than any other Premier League side since Ralph Hasenhuttl took charge in December 2018 (89). Neto appears to be released in behind, but Bazunu races out of his goal and just gets to the ball in the nick of time and sends it out of play. However, the referee isn't interested and nothing is given. Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Southampton Austria striker Kalajdzic, signed on Wednesday from Stuttgart for £15million, replaced Raul Jimenez in Bruno Lage's starting line-up, while Rayan Ait-Nouri and Daniel Podence also returned to the side. Bruno Lage has handed Sasa Kalajdzic a quickfire Wolverhampton Wanderers debut against Southampton today. Kalajdzic only joined Wolves from Stuttgart on ...
Kalajdzic will lead the line for Wolves though, with Daniel Podence and Pedro Neto in support of the Austrian. "I cannot put pressure on him and say tomorrow he is going to score three goals. Kalajdzic only joined Wolves from Stuttgart on Wednesday and he hasn't been able to train properly with his new teammates in the build-up to the game, as Lage explained yesterday.
The arrivals of defender Nathan Collins, midfielder Matheus Nunes, winger Goncalo Guedes and striker Sasa Kalejdic will no doubt please fans, but perhaps just ...
The excitement is palpable..I wont be in to watch the desperate hunt for a goal so enjoy the match gentlemen. Of the Nunes and Guedes duo, they both have been a little slow off the mark so far, though Nunes clearly has something about him. We do have a decent record versus Southampton of late and so I've backed us .... in what has been a disappointing start to the new season devoid of a win so far, what impact witll the changes have on the team. Just wondered if you were trying to wind them up with the 'Notts' Forest reference!! Having said that, I want him to do well for the good of Wolves. I have always found him to be an incipid type of character and certainly no Nuno. For what it's worth, I have a sneaking feeling we could win our first match today. Well it's pretty fair to say that the players who have left the club have struggled to maintain starting places - or in some cases squad places - so far whilst the new players have been slotted into the team fairly quickly, in an attempt to familiarise them with the Premier League. Leander Dendoncker has crossed the midlands to Villa to be replaced by Boubacar Traore on loan.
WOLVES are looking for three points against Southampton in the Premier League. The Saints stunned Chelsea last Tuesday having pipped them to a hard-fou.
But he connected with the side of his head and the ball crossed the line off his right arm - VAR not needed to confirm the blindingly obvious for referee John Brooks. Hasenhuttl’s men had arrived in the Black Country in a far more positive frame of mind than their opponents after an encouraging start to the season and on the back on a 2 - 1 win over Chelsea. But that strike was still a thing of beauty for the home fans and for manager Lage. In fact he looked a bag of nerves and his finish, an uncertain stab at the ball, was little more than ugly. The more erratic Wolves became, the more a sense of gloom and frustration settled on the old old faithful. The relief in the face of Podence and his team mates was only too obvious after his shot had made its’ way over the line.

Wolverhampton Wanderers finally won their first Premier League game of the season after Daniel Podence scored the only goal against Southampton.
Podence was productive in possession and put in a shift out of it to help Ait-Nouri at the other end. He assisted Podence at the end of the first half and teed up Neto for good chances on a couple of occasions. He seemed certain to score on a couple of occasions, but Neto lacked a bit of quality when faced up by Bazunu. The Wolves captain gritted his teeth and put in a dogged performance in midfield. Wolves’ Spanish full-back was much improved on his showing at Bournemouth and almost scored a stunner in the second half. A smart foul on Walker-Peters in the second half halted a dangerous Southampton breakaway. Matheus was finally able to show Molineux his quality in a Premier League game. All eyes were on Kalajdzic in the box, but Podence nipped in behind the target man to put Wolves ahead in first half stoppage time. Neves wasn’t at his creative best in a game that was beyond scrappy at times. The ex-Birmingham City striker only needed to nod home into the empty Wolves goal after good work on the right from Aribo, but he somehow handled it instead. Matheus Nunes slid Neto in down the right but Wolves’ number seven dragged his shot wide with just Saints goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu to beat. The win finally ignites Wolves’ season and they are now out of the relegation zone.
Wolves beat Southampton in a tight, tense clash at Molineux, as Bruno Lage's side grabbed their first win of the season, and first win in 13 PL games.

There is a lot of negativity swirling around Wolves as Lage’s side dominate possession in games but just can’t put away chances and it appears to be more of a mental block that anything else. Southampton’s young side are very talented but there will be a few ups and downs this season, as they miss now make the most out of games against Brentford, Aston Villa and Everton to build on their strong start. Let’s see if Saints can now make the most of their unexpected fast start to the campaign. Che Adams will score that chance 99 times out of 100 and had Saints made it 1-1 with 30 minutes to go, surely another comeback win was on the cards. Watch out for Che Adams, who has been leading the line superbly. They now face Manchester City and Liverpool and some of the pressure is off Lage after their first win in 13 Premier League games. From Podence’s scuffed shot to Che Adams’ incredible error, Wolves dug deep and worked as hard as ever and they had the rub of the green. Matheus Nunes also produced a lovely assist and caused Saints plenty of problems with his clever runs and passing. Wolves don’t score a lot of goals (just three this season) and having their two main strikers out injured is far from ideal, but it sounds like both will be okay.

Matheus Nunes also produced a lovely assist and caused Saints plenty of problems with his clever runs and passing. Sasa Kalajdzic ruled out; Raul Jimenez injured in warm-up: Worrying news for El Tri fans as Raul Jimenez was not only left out of Wolves’ starting lineup but he was then injured in the warm-up and pulled out of the squad altogether.
