Highlights and analysis of Morecambe 0 Sheffield Wednesday 3 (Yorkshire Live)

Hello and welcome to our live blog as Sheffield Wednesday travel to Morecambe. The English Football League fixture schedule resumes today after football ...

James slipped in Smith down the left. A lovely turn from Mighten down the right. His first touch let him down and but Delaney got back well to make the tackle. James then sees a rasping left foot volley turned away by Ripley. Darren Moore's team lost ground in the automatic promotion race, losing 2-0 at home to Barnsley last time out. Tributes will be paid to the Queen, who passed away last Thursday, at grounds. There will be a minute's silence held before all matches and the national anthem played. Hello and welcome to our live blog as Sheffield Wednesday travel to Morecambe. He has tried to be positive on the ball but his end product has left a lot to be desired. Morecambe carved the Owls open down the right. Bannan slipped in James on the left. Have the Owls got the guile and imagination to break them down?

Some big Sheffield Wednesday player ratings as Owls batter down ... (The Star)

Sheffield Wednesday were made to work hard for just over an hour, but the floodgates opened as they managed to beat Morecambe 3-0.

Put himself about, used his body well and stung the gloves of Ripley as he almost got on the scoresheet as well. Caused lots of problems for the Morecambe defence and took his goal with aplomb when he did get his biggest chance of the game. Used his body incredibly well back to goal, and was a good focal point. Tried to make things happen down the right side, but far too often found himself running down a bit of a blind alley. Went quite close with a couple of long-range efforts and picked some lovely passes to split the Shrimps’ defence. Looks so composed in possession, and has an eye for a pass too.

Goals from Josh Windass, George Byers and Michael Smith helped Sheffield Wednesday sweep aside struggling Morecambe 3-0 to end a run of back-to-back ...

Morecambe had looked threatening in the first period on the break and had the first chance of the game when Cole Stockton played in Kieran Phillips, only for his effort to be well saved by David Stockdale. With eight minutes to go Windass turned provider as he played in Michael Smith down the right side of the box and the striker produced a fine finish to beat Ripley low to his right. The Owls always looked in charge of the game but were kept at bay by a superb display from

The left-back area has been a troublesome position for the Stones this season. Galvin, 21, has played twice for the Owls first team this season, making substitute appearances in a 3-0 League Cup win against Rochdale and a 3-1 Football League Trophy defeat at Bradford. The left-back has been training with the Stones and could make his debut at home to Wealdstone in the National League tonight after the clubs agreed a two-month loan deal.

“There’s no doubt the bigger ones in the division can take advantage of it but we’re just looking forward to the games and pitting ourselves against clubs like that.” As Adams acknowledged, it’s a situation which plays into the hands of those who are able to have bigger squads at their disposal in comparison to the rest of the division. “You only have to look at the talent both clubs have got in their teams – I could rattle off a good number of names in their squads.”

How is Saido Berahino getting on since leaving Sheffield Wednesday? (Football League World)

After a three season stint away from England in Belgium, Saido Berahino returned to the EFL with a bang at Sheffield Wednesday in the last campaign.

Whilst he wasn’t a regular starter, Berahino did manage eight goals in his 13 starts and proved to be a valuable option off the bench. Once he bags his first goal from a cameo appearance, he then might put himself into the first-team fold. However, the player couldn’t emulate some of the goalscoring prowess he produced during his time with West Brom and he was shipped off to Zulte Waregem.

I thought we needed our technical players on the pitch tonight. One of the first names on the teamsheet right now. A virtual spectator after the break. I hope we can build on this win. We scored two from set plays. We went half way to Plymouth. Our attacking players got it right off the ball. Didn’t have much to do. We had 27 attempts tonight. We stayed with it. You can follow Moore's press call live below to see what he made of his team's performance against the Shrimps. But the Owls kept plugging away and scored three times in the final 20 minutes through Josh Windass, George Byers and Michael Smith.

Morecambe remain second-from-bottom in League One after losing 3-0 to Sheffield Wednesday at the Mazuma Stadium last night.

They passed the ball, they zipped it about, unfortunately they have such a strong squad. "We were playing against Sheffield Wednesday but I thought we competed really well for long periods in the game. “They [Sheffield Wednesday] are a very, very good side," said Adams. “It was always going to be a difficult game for us," admitted Adams. “You can’t expect to beat a team when they are on form and I thought they were on form tonight. Three second-half goals helped Sheffield Wednesday return to winning ways on Tuesday evening, with the Owls running out as 3-0 winners at Morecambe.

A young player who is evidently adapting to a different style of play, Mighten has shown positive signs and certainly has the ability to play a vital role as this campaign progresses. Why Tyreeq Bakinson missed Sheffield Wednesday's emphatic win ... (Yorkshire Live)

Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Tyreeq Bakinson was not involved in the Owls' League One clash against Morecambe.

"We dominated but on that occasion we just couldn’t break through and they got a goal to win it. He scored the opener from Bannan's corner and was a handful throughout as the Owls dictated proceedings for long periods. Moore said: “He’s absolutely fine. Bakinson has featured seven times across all competitions since moving to Hillsborough earlier in the summer. The only reason Tyreeq wasn’t involved was that he's come in, he’s played a lot of football and all the decision was that he looked just a little bit jaded in training, so we whipped him out of the team. Eyebrows were raised over Tyreeq Bakinson's omission from Sheffield Wednesday's squad against Morecambe.

What's former Sheffield Wednesday and Watford man Fernando ... (The 72 - We Love the Football League)

Sheffield Wednesday and Watford both had Fernando Forestieri on their books during his time playing in England.

Forestieri remained with them until December 2021, managing two goals and one assist in just 54 minutes of Serie A action before his release. At Hillsborough, Forestieri was absolutely unplayable when at the top of his game. Forestieri spent time as a permanent player with both Genoa and Udinese, enduring plenty of spells out on loan in Italy before first heading to England to join Watford in 2012.
