We've got all the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) injury updates, team news and key manager quotes from the Premier League press conferences being held today.

He’s been on the grass with us for a good few days now, maybe from late last week. So good to have Junior back, obviously has big quality, that can help us, no doubt.” – Gary O’Neil “David Brooks suffered a slight setback in the development game that he played. “So, yeah, not a huge surprise, although disappointing, especially for Brooksy. We’ll see for the weekend.” – Frank Lampard on Dominic Calvert-Lewin But I will leave my team news to the time we get it.

FPL Gameweek 8: Picks for Midfielders (The twelfth Man Times)

Everyone in charge of an FPL team, relax; we're here to assist you. Here are our top three midfielder recommendations for your Fantasy Premier League teams. 3 ...

He has registered an xG of 2.77 and an xA of 2.26. He has an xG of 1.79 and has created 21 chances, with an xA of 3.66. In addition to scoring 14 goals, Mikel Arteta’s squad has an xG of 12.78, making them one of the league’s top offensive units. He has scored 3 goals and has recorded one assist. Manchester City has scored 20 goals (first) already with an xG of 15.84 (first) and is also the favorite to score 2.5+ goals. He has been the heart of Manchester City’s midfield. So with Spurs facing Leicester City, it is the perfect opportunity for Son to start scoring and also proving an assist. We have seen abilities in the midfield where he can create a goal-scoring opportunity out of nothing. Leicester has conceded 16 goals in just 6 games so far. He is a dependable FPL asset, and judging on his offensive performances throughout the years and his numbers, we can expect him to perform well again soon. One of 1st picks for this week’s FPL team in midfield should be Spurs Heung Min Son. The Premier League rescheduled the two games that were supposed to take place in London.

Fantasy Premier League tips: Transfer, free hit and captain options ... (Evening Standard)

The disruption to the football calendar has spilled over onto the upcoming gameweek 8 in Fantasy Premier League.

Bournemouth, Brentford and Fulham next up for the Toon. A whopping record of 19 goals in 18 meetings makes him a prime candidate for free hits, captains and wildcards this week. He’s also only blanked in one of his five starts this season. Arsenal are top of the league but are conceding at a rate above a goal-per-game nonetheless. There are a lot of hot strikers in FPL right now and Mitrovic is arguably the best value for money, a snip at £6.9m with only Harry Kane, Erling Haaland and Ivan Toney having racked up more points. It’s a bit of a classic tale: in-form striker responds to first England call-up with a goal.

FPL: Countdown to GW8 - To wildcard or not to wildcard? (GiveMeSport)

We've had a weekend off from FPL and only have seven fixtures in Gameweek 8. We're taking hits, using our chips and activating wildcards.

[Manchester City](https://www.givemesport.com/MANCHESTER-CITY) will have a blank in GW12 (their fixture with Arsenal has been postponed) but until that point, we need to be going big on the Champions. In GW11, Salah (12.9) and Haaland (12.0) play each other, so we might look to Mitrovic, who plays Bournemouth at home, for captaincy. Likewise, Arsenal don’t play in GW12 and have a tough run coming up. It’s a tricky run wedged in between Champions League matches. He’s proved himself to be fixture proof and after seeing what he’s done to some of the league’s big boys, I’m very excited to own him for this next wave of games. When he adopts these positions he not only becomes the league’s best assist threat but a goal threat too. I’m doubling up with Nick Pope (5.1) and Kieran Trippier (5.3), who clocked up a whopping six chances versus Crystal Palace last time out. The last time he visited Molineux, he scored four goals! Meanwhile, lots of FPL managers are asking me if they should free hit and, whilst I could name 101 reasons not to this week, I will leave you with two words; double gameweeks! We’ve had a weekend off from FPL and only have seven fixtures in Gameweek 8. The Belgian is playing super advanced at the moment and I’m encouraged to see him off the shoulder of Haaland so often. We’re taking hits, using our chips and activating wildcards.

Using FPL Points as a Metric Gameweek 8: Rich P's Wildcard team ... (Fantasy Football Hub)

Rich P has achieved an incredible rank using his points as a metric formula. Here is his FPL Gameweek 8 Wildcard team plans.

[Tiktok](https://www.tiktok.com/@FFH_HQ) [Terms apply](https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/terms-and-conditions). City and Brentford are the two teams scoring the most FPL points in the forward position. [introductory piece here](https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fpl-tips-using-fpl-points-as-a-metric-introduction). Harry Kane (£11.4m) is one I am seriously considering. So a short-term investment in the Magpies’ defence seems worthwhile. Erling Haaland (£12m) is a lock despite the fixtures. [Homepage](https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/) I wanted Kieran Trippier (£5.3m) so I swapped Ruben Dias (£6.0m) for him on Wednesday night. So for my transfer targets this week, I’ll be looking at how their opponents perform either at home or away. With Graham Potter in charge at Stamford Bridge, we saw James back to himself on the wing. And see our other experts’ team reveals [here](https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fantasy-premier-league-team-reveals).

FPL and mental health: Why the game is a positive to me (Fantasy Football Scout)

In the article below, site regular Notlob Legin hails the positive aspects of not just Fantasy Premier League (FPL) but also you, the Fantasy Football Scout ...

I read almost every comment posted and overall, love the community. To me, FPL is my escapism from normal life and I unashamedly say I love it. I also understand that most people are in a very different situation to me personally and that the game may impact you in different ways, But to me, it is, without doubt, the thing that keeps me going. To me, every article appears to be positioned towards how FPL can have a negative effect on your mental health – but I think in my case it’s the complete opposite! I spend hours on here every day and get great pleasure in making my own decisions. I have two grown-up children and about five years ago, I “inherited” my other son; he has behavioural issues, goes to a specialist school and has had quite an impact on our lives.

GW8 FPL stats: Haaland sets record as managers use chips (Premier League)

Man City forward is captained by 6m, while there are season-high figures for Wildcards and Free Hits.

The 24 points he earned that day remains his best return in Fantasy. Six of their nine opponents ahead of the World Cup score just two in the [Fixture Difficulty Ratings](https://fantasy.premierleague.com/fixtures/fdr). Along with David Raya (£4.5m), he has earned a league-leading eight save points this term. But his underlying statistics remain encouraging. -
