Hull City vs Luton Town LIVE from the MKM Stadium (Hull Daily Mail)

City have suffered four straight defeats in the Championship and boss Shota Arveladze has paid the price with his job, after the club confirmed on Friday ...

And welcome to the MKM Stadium on what feels like a big night for Hull City against Luton Town. They brought in a few foreign players with pedigree, Tufan, Estupinan, and kept the likes of (Jacob) Greaves who was rumoured to go for money, so they’ve got a good squad. Hull City’s Head of Safeguarding Caroline Adamson said: “At Hull City, we believe that football should be an enjoyable activity for everyone whether as a participant or spectator, child or adult. [Read what he had to say in his final press conference here.](https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/shota-arveladzes-final-words-hull-7648006) That's the acid question, isn't it? They've spent money, so we won’t underestimate them in any way shape or form, and we want to go there and just concentrate on us. We continue to do all we can to encourage the participation of all sectors of the community and to make the involvement in football a healthy, life-enhancing and safe experience. I see Hull as another tough Championship game, I’d be foolish to do anything other than that. The key messages of this year’s Play Safe campaign is to highlight the vital role parents and carers play in football and to direct audiences to the FA’s safeguarding course, developed specifically for parents and guardians. It’s a tough place to go and a tough game, we’ve had to be really good to win, we’ve won the last two up there and I’d like to make that three, but it will be a totally different game to last year and a totally different one to when Grant McCann was in charge, so I see them only as a real tough Championship game and I’d be an idiot to say anything different. The visit of Luton is the first of successive home games for City with Wigan Athletic to come on Wednesday night, and after a two-week break, Dawson's men will hope to put in a much better display than their last outing at Swansea City. The final international break before the World Cup in Qatar is now over and Hull City return to action this evening against Luton Town at the MKM Stadium in what is a crucial encounter under the lights.

Clinical Luton Town inflict more pain on managerless Hull City (Hull Daily Mail)

Having dispensed with manager Shota Arveladze ahead of the first game following the two-week international break, owner Acun Ilicali hoped a change in the ...

Despite going behind, City did recover well and went close to getting on terms when a decent move from right to left saw Longman cut in and send a rasping drive inches over the bar, before Slater fizzed one towards Horvath's goal, it took a wicked deflection before crashing off the underside of the bar and down to safety. Caretaker boss Dawson made three changes from the side beaten 3-0 at Swansea City before the international break with Alfie Jones, Ryan Woods and Ryan Longman coming in for Tobias Figueiredo, Jean Michael Seri and the injured Harvey Vale, while there was a place on the bench for Dogukan Sinik for the first time since his summer move. Six minutes had gone when Elijah Adebayo's flick from a corner hit the bar and cannoned in the net off Alfie Jones, and despite hitting the woodwork themselves, City were punished again on the cusp of half-time when Henri Lansbury fizzed in an effort after yet more hesitant defending.

Osho almost caught out Baxter with a cross-shot from deep on the right, but there was little danger at the other end as the Town saw out a comfortable victory to keep their season revving into gear, with the grass looking much greener after recording back-to-back victories and a third in a row away from home. It was the perfect way to open his account for the club, and the midfielder responded by revving up his lawnmower for a celebration to reflect his favourite pastime away from football - cutting his grass! The midfielder struck the ball first-time on the half-volley from fully 30 yards, slightly to the left of the goal, with the bend from connecting with the outside of his right foot taking the ball well away from Baxter's reach and in off the far post.

It was a more English and solid-looking team (not to say one equals the other). The problem is, they are not Harlem Globetrotters and Luton are nobodies patsies. Arveladze had been half-expecting the sack after the 3-0 defeat in South Wales a fortnight earlier, or at least was uncertain if it was coming, as he admitted afterwards. The Georgian took Wednesday's press conference and wrote Friday’s programme notes. Elijah Adebayo's shot hit the crossbar and ricocheted in off Alfie Jones, Hull bossed the ball, Luton the scoreline as City picked the wrong times and wrong places to overplay.
