[Robbie Neilson's](https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/all-about/robbie-neilson) men have had an indifferent start to the season in the league as they get used to the rigours of the Thursday to Sunday schedule with European football. [Rangers](https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/all-about/rangers-fc) boss van Bronckhorst had big decisions to make in goals, defence, midfield and up front which pretty much sums up exactly how his squad have been performing this season, and it's not necessarily been a good thing. Promoted Stories [Giovanni van Bronckhorst ](https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/all-about/giovanni-van-bronckhorst)has a good record at Tynecastle with two wins from two last season and will be hoping for similar again today and a win would put them back to the top of the Premiership, for a couple of hours at least.
Rangers can hit the Scottish Premiership summit, albeit possibly only briefly, as the Scottish Premiership returns with a bang in the capital.
But it was given as a corner with Ben Davies effort deflected over for the second in three corners in quick succession but the danger is cleared. The amount of football he played over the years he was at Burnley was incredible. And Sean Dyche, in an interview with the Scottish Daily Mail, has heaped praised the veteran who he signed for Burnley. And Antonio Colak is preferred up front with Alfredo Morelos on the bench. Ryan Kent swings a ball in from the left and Colak plants a header beyond Craig Gordon. The 33-year-old did well to get in behind the Jambos defence but he couldn't supply the finish as he sent his effort wide. John Lundstram sprays a lovely ball out wide to Rabbi Matondo and he slips a pass to Colak who sends a low shot under the advancing Craig Gordon. But it needed more than that to be at the Gers keeper. Colak is at the double and it's now 11 for the Croat. Giovanni van Bronckhorst and the rest of the bench erupted in fury and no wonder. As Rabbi Matondo shields the ball, the Australian comes right in on the back of the Welsh international's ankle. Still, the Light Blues couldn't have asked for better than this in what is a tough fixture.

"He also scored two goals in the last game. Both sides made double substitutions at the start of the second half and Hearts' two replacements almost had a swift impact when Halliday headed wide from Robert Snodgrass' corner in the 48th minute. Four minutes later, Rangers winger Kent had a low angled shot deflected wide of the far post. I think we started really well and the first goal is always important. Moments later, the same player saw his header from another Tavernier corner scrambled out by goalkeeper Craig Gordon. And Kent put the seal on Rangers' victory in the first minute of stoppage time when he stepped away from Peter Haring and fired in a brilliant low strike from just inside the box.
A FIRST-HALF double from Antonio Colak helped Rangers to an impressive 4-0 victory against Hearts at Tynecastle this afternoon.
The Gers captain returned the ball to the striker, who had made his way into the box, and he blasted a powerful right-footed shot beyond Craig Gordon. It was a great start at Tynecastle for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men and they were two goals to the good just before the half-hour mark. The Croatian took a great touch to release Ryan Kent on the left and he drove forward. Connor Goldson sent a long ball forward which Hearts managed to clear but it was only as far as striker Antonio Colak. Ben Davies came closest with the third set-piece as James Tavernier’s ball met the head of centre-back but he was denied by Craig Gordon. Hearts were reduced to 10 men on the 39th minute as Cameron Devlin was shown a straight red card as he lunged in on Rabbi Matondo as the Gers winger was holding the ball up at the touchline.

Rangers eased to a 4-0 win over Hearts after an exciting first-half at Tynecastle Park. Joel Sked picks out some key points.
Looking at how it transpired and the position of the winger’s ankle the end result could have been a lot worse. Yet, for a short period at least, Rangers were top of the Premiership. Still, the answer is to continue to play him because he is capable of something brilliant but those moments are far less frequent against a higher standard of opposition. Yet, he was brilliant in the air. On the ground he was positive and ambitious. It was best summed up when he awkwardly dealt with a long ball which he appeared to lose in the sun. He can lift a crowd, produce a moment of magic and win a game. Curiously, in the Hearts programme he said he would take heading out of the game given the chance. This was just one of those days which should be consigned to history. He has done it before and he will do it again because there is no doubt he can fulfil that role. For the former, it was arguably his worst performance in a maroon jersey. Especially against a Hearts defence, shorn of Craig Halkett, which was set to feature young centre-back Lewis Neilson and Stephen Kingsely.
