Cambridge United suffer late collapse in League One defeat at ... (Cambridgeshire Live)

Cambridge United conceded three times in the final 18 minutes to lose 3-0 at Ipswich Town on Tuesday. Goals from substitutes Tyreece John-Jules and Kyle ...

Edwards wrapped up the win four minutes from time with a low drilled finish, as the visitors were well beaten in the end. Liam O’Neil had the only effort of note in the minutes following the restart, but the midfielder fired well wide of the target. The hosts upped the pressure after the half hour mark, with United having to dig in to retain parity in the lead up to the interval. Ladapo had Town’s final chance of the half but the forward’s strike was blocked, as United were able to keep the score level heading into half-time. United had some good counter attacking moments in the early stages, but were unable to make the most of them. The first half was played out as expected, with the hosts dominating possession and the U’s looking to contain them.

Finally in attack, Freddie Ladapo is no stranger to being rotated when it comes to McKenna’s selection in recent weeks, but after two goals in as many matches, he should be preferred from the very start ahead of Arsenal loanee Tyreece John-Jules, who hasn’t scored since August 20. Similarly, Kyle Edwards will be chomping at the bit for a start after five outings from the bench, and it was his driving run and subsequent cross which set up Burns for the winner against Pompey, although it may have been heading into the back of the net anyway from the former West Brom attacker. It is further forward where they have more options to play with, and a chance could be given to the likes of Dominic Ball, who is yet to start a league match yet since his summer arrival from Queens Park Rangers, but has made three substitute appearances.

Bring It On - Cambridge United Boss Steeled For Ipswich Town Clash (Inside Futbol)

Cambridge United head coach Mark Bonner has insisted that while he knows the toughness of a clash with Ipswich, he is relishing it.

“We have to try and find some weaknesses that we can exploit, and do them really well, but we’ll have to be incredibly well organised in order to handle what they’ve got”, Bonner added. “It’ll be a tough night if they play at their very best and they find their top tempo, but our aim is to try and disrupt that as much as we can, and to try and carry our own threat, and see if we can get some control of it.” Bonner is aware that his team will find it a challenge to compete against Ipswich, but it is a challenge he is approaching with excitement and he also recalled last season when his team went to Portman Road and got a victory.

'Ipswich Town defeat will not define Cambridge United's season' (Cambridge Independent)

Reflecting on the Sky Bet League One encounter, Bonner said: “(I'm) only disappointed because we lost but let's be honest our season won't be defined by night's ...

“It’s a nice reminder to everyone one of where we are. “Our organisation and work ethic was very good but we weren’t able to bring enough moments to bring control in the second half. “We couldn’t quite get out and as a consequence of that the ball can land anywhere. “In the second half we ended up a bit deep, which is obvious. No disgrace at all, I think they’re a brilliant team flooded with excellent players that just kept stronger as the game went on. “I thought we worked our socks off to be in that game.
