Obituary: Chrissy Rouse (1995-2022) (BSN)

Chrissy Rouse, who passed away on Thursday after an incident in the third British Superbike Championship race at Donington Park last Sunday.

A tough rival and someone who had time for anyone are also two of the many attributes he possessed but the last word should go to the tribute paid by his former school, Emmanuel College. Away from the track, Rouse sailed through his school years, passing his GCSE and A-Level exams with flying colours before graduating from university with a degree in Mathematics upon where he commenced working as a university lecturer. The next six years were spent in the highly competitive National Superstock Championship where he soon established himself as a regular front runner and fierce competitor.

“On behalf of Chrissy’s family they wish to convey their deep appreciation for the support and well wishes that they have received in recent days. Race three was red-flagged followed the accident, which occurred on the first lap. I set off beside Chrissy before what would be his last race, we made eye contact before the start and gave each other a respectful nod. Someone who exemplified the spirit of Emmanuel College. “You were an absolute gentleman off the track and a fierce competitor on track. You were a tremendous talent, a British champion, maths teacher, Podcast legend, a proper hard grafter to make your dreams a reality but most importantly an all round good guy. I’m so proud of you and honoured to call you family. How could that same person be the main man behind Chasin’ the Racin’ constantly entertaining us on a regular basis. “Chrissy, I am so sorry to hear that you have passed away. What a loss, I pray for strength for your family, friends and team right now.” I will see you again and until then I hope I make you proud. That is one of the many things you have taught me.
