Reports say people are still trapped inside the rubble of the petrol station after today's explosion.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service sent a Specialist Rescue team along with Specialist Officers to the scene. The emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident with ambulances coming from as far away as Northern Ireland to aid their colleagues in Donegal. "I saw one person on the ground and they looked as if they were dead. There were no ambulances or Gardai at the scene at that stage because it had literally just happened. From pictures taken just moments after the blast there was no fire at the scene of the explosion. The complex also contains several apartments above the service station's shop which house a number of young families. The hospital has moved to Major Emergency Standby as it deals with this incident. The drama unfolded shortly after 3pm in the busy village of Creeslough, Do Donegal, when locals were shook to their core following the huge explosion. Neither were injured in the blast. Eye witnesses said people rushed to the scene. Rescue efforts were underway tonight (Friday) to try save several people who were still trapped inside the petrol station in the tiny village of Creeslough, Do Donegal. Nightlights were drafted in as an overnight search started following reports of a number of missing people.

"People across this island will be numbed by the same sense of shock and utter devastation as the people of Creeslough at this tragic loss of life," he said. "I wish to express my deepest sympathies to their family, and friends, and to the entire community of Creeslough, on this darkest of days for Donegal and the entire country." In a statement Mr Martin said the incident, in which seven people have now been confirmed dead, has been the "darkest of days" for Donegal.

Immediately after the explosion, an airspace restriction was imposed over Creeslough as the injured were being airlifted from the scene. Lafferty’s, with its generous forecourt is an easy place to pull-in and grab some essentials or something quick from the deli. Last night, locals gathered around the cordon set up by gardaí. Upon closer inspection, it’s possible to clearly see a bed, a bedside locker, a sofa and a picture on a wall in one of the homes.
