Union extend lead at top of Bundesliga (The West Australian)

Paul Jaeckel has scored the winner against Stuttgart that puts Union Berlin two points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.

"We haven't seen a great game, we were tired from Thursday," Union midfielder Rani Khedira told DAZN, talking of the Europa League win in Malmo. Ninth-placed Cologne soon levelled thanks to a spot kick from Kainz but he went from hero to villain when he caught Jonas Hofmann - who had fouled him for his penalty - with an elbow in the box and received a second booking on 45 minutes. Union, who lost their first Bundesliga match of the season last weekend at Eintracht Frankfurt, were patient at second-bottom Stuttgart and struck when Jaeckel headed in a corner off the post on 76 minutes.
