Celts need a win to keep their last-16 dream alive but it does remain in their own hands at Parkhead.
It's do or die stuff for Celtic but I think Leipzig are strong enough to take something from the game. They know now that Leipzig can be got at even despite the 3-1 defeat in Germany last week and they'll be confident they can finally add themselves to the winners' column with a strong night at Parkhead. Whatever team the Hoops boss selects, Celts must avoid defeat to stand any chance of reaching the last 16. Leipzig, while they're no mugs are no Madrid and I feel Celts can get at them in front of a packed out Parkhead. Celtic were sloppy in Germany last week, with Joe Hart's blunder turning the tide in Leipzig's favour. Celts took Real Madrid to their limit, missed a boat load of chances away to Shakhtar and were then picked off by RB Leipzig last week during three fixtures which produced plenty of quality even if [Ange Postecoglou's](https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/all-about/ange-postecoglou) men don't have much to shout about in terms of actual success in the group. The Scottish champions' form has dipped since the blockbuster visit of Real Madrid but they'll need to be on top of their game to get a positive result against their Bundesliga opponents. That would be an added nightmare alongside captain Callum McGregor's long-term injury. There seems to be a confidence about the Hoops this term, however, with their gung-ho attacking style being perceived as no fear of the Champions League and, against Real Madrid at home that might - on another day - have brought about a famous victory. The atmosphere at Parkhead is renowned around Europe and the Celtic can create a cauldron of noise in the East End of Glasgow. Realistically, It's a must win game for Celtic in their bid to qualify for the knockout stages. [Hoops](https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/all-about/celtic-fc) have looked decent in the tournament so far but have just a single point to show for their efforts.

Celtic welcome RB Leipzig as they desperately search for their first Champions League win of the season.
90+3 mins: There goes the full-time whistle and Celtic have been defeated at home to RB Leipzig. Celtic 0-2 RB Leipzig We’cve got two games left - we want two positive results.” It’s Champions League football, you’ve got to take your chances. “Disappointing not to get a result. For us we’ve just got to keep working hard. “Scoring a goal in front of such a crowd is always good. If we don’t lose in Warsaw against Donetsk, we are well-placed for a second-placed finish.” Giorgos Giakoumakis scored in the 95th minute to give Celtic a 2-1 win and could be in line to start tonight after Jota was taken off the pitch at half-time on Saturday. FT Celtic 0-2 RB Leipzig That display encapsulated the story of their Champions League campaign so far where they’ve competed with teams for almost an hour before letting the standards drop towards the end of the game. The Hoops have only collected one point from their first three matches following a draw with Shakhtar Donetsk and defeats to Real Madrid and [RB Leipzig.](https://www.independent.co.uk/topic/rb-leipzig)
Celtic are bottom of their Champions League group with just one point from three matches despite broadly positive performances. They missed several chances in a ...
Maeda gets down the left and his pull-back is flicked off a Leipzig heel, and the ball ran free for Abada to shoot but his touch let him down. "You can play 100 games at Champions League level and you know the next one is still going to be difficult. Schlager tries to find Simakan with a big diagonal, but the Frenchman is judged to have fouled Celtic left-back Taylor. Celtic almost contribute to their own downfall with another loose pass in their own half, and Hart produced a good save to smother against Oban who was free in the box. Haksabanovic with a well-crafted delivery on to the head of Kyogo, who was unmarked and six yards out, but he headed over. Celtic have struggled to keep up with some some of Leipzig's patterns and fast breaks but, as in all their Champions League games, they have created chances of their own. A deserved goal on the balance of play in the second half. What a chance for Leipzig but Szoboszlai slipped at the crucial moment! Some of their football is very progressive and their application is unquestionable, but it has proved a step up in class. It was a game we were well in but it's been the story of our campaign that our missed chances have cost us. Andre Silva got to the bye-line and cut it back for Werner to head home. The Japan attacker was having a frustrating night with the ball though and steered a first-time effort wide.
Celtic face RB Leipzig this evening as the Champions League returns to Paradise. The Germans beat Ange's team last Wednesday but the return leg promises to ...
I thought he was really good when he came on at the weekend and he took the game on and was really positive. In attack, the manager needs to pick between Giorgos Giakoumakis and Kyogo to start the match. Yesterday Ange Postecoglou said that Celtic really should have won the game in Warsaw which ended in a 1-1 draw and his side will be confident that they can beat Shakhtar on Tuesday 25 October. Some folk reckoned that Ange was holding on to the lead at Perth by subbing all three, in fact he was thinking about tonight having been satified with what he’d seen road-testing this midfield trio. The Bundesliga side got the better of the Hoops last Wednesday night, winning 3-1 at the Red Bull Arena in Eastern Germany but tonight Celtic have the home advantage, and backed by around 59,500 Celtic supporters (RB Leipzig’s travelling support numbers just 500) Ange Postecoglou’s side will NOT be short of vocal backing. The Germans beat Ange’s team last Wednesday but the return leg promises to be a cracker, despite the injuries that are mounting for the Scottish Champions.
The Celtic Star attended yesterday's Media Conference at Celtic Park ahead of the Champions League match against RB Leipzig this evening.
On Cameron Carter-Vickers taking the armband and what he brings to the captaincy that is different from Callum McGregor: “Cam is a great presence in terms of his stature on the pitch and the calmness he brings to the team when he plays. We’re a team that wants to be on the front foot, that wants to be aggressive, wants to press and that’s the game-plan for sure.” We approach every game in the same manner, the same preparation and as I touched on earlier if we can be a bit more ruthless in their box – and in ours probably – then that should be the difference. At MK Dons we played with two deeper ones then with two in front, like a box but in terms of the concept I am deeper down in the pitch so it is the same concept in that sense. Of course we know the importance of this game because after that it’s going to be a little bit harder but our approach to the game is still the same. Even speaking to a few Bhoys today, we’re going to have to be a bit more clinical if we are going to have a good chance of winning this game. On The Celtic Star’s question about a draw not really suiting either side and if Celtic take the lead Leipzig will have to go for it. I’m not thinking about it on a personal note to be honest, I’m just going to do what I can do in that position but naturally Cal is a big loss, we know that. It’s obviously different to what I’m used to at the moment, I’ve been playing slightly higher up so structurally it’s slightly differnt but because our structure is so clear and we all know what we are doing, dropping in isn’t so difficult. A lot to learn especially the ruthless side of it, if you give them a chance they are very quick to punish you, even for ourselves we have had good chances and we haven’t taken them and that has probably determined the result of the game. “The good thing is that we are creating the chances. The Celtic midfielder on the manager’s criticism last week that the players started to take the safer option by going into survival mode after Jota equalised in Leipzig: “I think it’s a number of factors.
RB Leipzig scored second-half goals through Timo Werner and substitute Emil Forsberg to earn a 2-0 win at Celtic in their Champions League Group F cla.
Celtic made a sluggish start after the break and Leipzig looked the more dangerous as Willi Orban drew a swift save from Hart while Dominik Szoboszlai granted the hosts a reprieve after losing his footing with a clear sight of goal. Werner guided a clever header past goalkeeper Joe Hart to silence Celtic Park with 74 minutes on the clock before setting up Forsberg 10 minutes later and the Swedish striker sealed the result with a brilliant finish into the top corner. RB Leipzig scored second-half goals through Timo Werner and substitute Emil Forsberg to earn a 2-0 win at Celtic in their Champions League Group F clash on Tuesday to end the home side's hopes of reaching the last 16.
