FC Copenhagen v Man City - 11 Oct 2022 Man City - Offical Club ... (Manchester City FC)

Considering we're in Scandinavia, those are positively balmy conditions! 16:05. Fresh look. You may have noticed our Matchday Centre is different ...

City decked out in our beautifully bright yellow training jacket. Ederson has a rare lapse in concentration with the ball at his feet. The atmosphere is building in the Parken Stadium... Luckily for us, it rolls just wide of the goal and it's Copenhagen's first corner. A light show here at Parken Stadium - with a rendition of the Boomtown Rats ringing out. There’s a great wall of noise over to my left – the Copenhagen fans packed in behind that goal, who have been here for hours, are making plenty of noise.

Copenhagen 0-0 Man City highlights and reaction after Gomez sent off (Manchester Evening News)

Manchester City faced FC Copenhagen in the Champions League at Parken Stadium and Riyad Mahrez missed a penalty.

Erling Haaland is warming up, and maybe he can get a cameo appearance to try and help them over the line. We respect the decision, it’s a mess, we have penalty then we miss then we have a red card and it completely changes the game. A draw wouldn’t be a terrible result in the circumstances, and City are still well capable of grabbing a winner. Rodri thought he had fired City ahead in the 10th minute on the half volley, sending a lovely effort flying into the top corner after Julian Alvarez's knockdown. City had struck 44 goals in 12 games since the Community Shield but suddenly drew a blank in Denmark. He may have decided that having those three fully rested for Liverpool is more important than bringing off the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish and Ilkay Gundogan. A huge game for Liverpool and to change their season but it’s hard to look past City when they’re firing, you can’t look past them. It seems like Pep Guardiola is keen to keep Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden and Erling Haaland wrapped up and rested for as long as possible. [City](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/all-about/manchester-city-fc) had maximum points from their first three games in the [Champions League](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/all-about/uefa-champions-league) this season, including a 5-0 win over Copenhagen at the Etihad just six days ago. [Pep Guardiola](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/all-about/pep-guardiola) was forced into a reshuffle in the first half when Sergio Gomez was sent off. Thirteen points separate the two sides, for Liverpool it’s must-win, not just to save their season and top four. This team fights until the end and we have chances, scored a goal, disallowed it, it’s difficult when it’s 10 against 11.

Why Erling Haaland's Release Clause Should Not Worry ... (Forbes)

It was reported this week that Manchester CIty striker Erling Haaland has a $195 million release clause in his contract, but despite that clause, City are ...

If he is happy at City in two years’ time, then City could offer him a new contract and end up staying in Manchester for the rest of his career. Many of the other most expensive transfers in soccer have not been anywhere near as successful as imagined. And on top of the transfer fee will be an agent’s fee, which could be more than $50 million, as well as Haaland’s wages. Barcelona’s financial difficulties have been well documented and could get even worse should they fail to make the knockout stages of this season’s Champions League. Haaland is already playing for a club that is competing for the top honors in world soccer, and is already beamed around the world at Manchester City. It’s almost twice Real Madrid’s record transfer fee of $110 million, which they paid for Eden Hazard.

Much to City's consternation, he ruled out the strike for handball against Mahrez in the build-up. For a split-second, he appeared to think the ball was rolling towards his own goal. Copenhagen 0-0 Manchester City: Pep Guardiola says what we're ... (Eurosport.co.uk)

Fun game, football. You can get right to the top and still not really get the rules. Handball? It's a mystery to everybody, including Manchester City's ...

We've got a quick rundown of the runners and riders over "Signed as a teenager in 1955 to replace a couple of other goalkeepers who’d grown tired of watching the paint dry, Dave got his hands dirty in Brighton’s reserve team for three years until, out of the blue, the seemingly immovable Eric developed flu. Well, it's quite easy to get from Scotland to Liverpool, and the Welsh ended up outnumbered in an unfamiliar stadium. It's quite something when the vote of confidence is delivered straight to the cameras after a big, big loss, and we can't quite decide if that makes a sacking more or less likely. And when somebody tells you they prefer Didier Deschamps' football to literally anything else, that is a cry for help. [here](https://www.eurosport.co.uk/football/transfers/2022-2023/real-madrid-liverpool-manchester-united-where-would-kylian-mbappe-go-after-paris-saint-germain_sto9180901/story.shtml), and if it's true that PSG won't talk to Real Madrid, then the Warm-Up's guess is that Chelsea provide just the right combination of "incredibly rich" and "in the right place to make a big thing out of being incredibly rich". The concept of handball is too nuanced for a simple "any touch of the hand is a foul." The transfer speculation has always been there, smouldering away on the horizon; life on the slopes of a transfer volcano. Ideally, the laws and processes of the game should penalise the former and disregard the latter. Instead he reiterated that Allegri would remain in charge and denied that the reasoning was financial. And the state of football as it relates to referees is too miserable to allow "any touch of the hand the referee deems to be weird, or important, is a foul." First, it is impossible to come up with an absolutely definitive method of determining what is and isn't handball, since the concept of deliberate and accidental is baked into the thing and who can know the state of another's soul?
