In normal conditions, losing six of your initial 13 association games at another club would prompt strain, yet that isn’t the situation with regards to Blackburn Meanderers lead trainer Jon Dahl Tomasson.

Blackburn Rovers slumped to their seventh defeat of the Championship campaign as their woeful away form continued with a 1-0 defeat at Wigan Athletic.
In the first half we made a lot of mistakes. A disappointing result, the players are disappointed. Today we had less opportunities and the same for both teams. We made bad decisions on the ball. I am disappointed with the goal when it is so tight. I played a lot of games. That was the only clear-cut chance Tomasson's side mustered as Wigan held on for their first home win of the season. They are disappointed in the dressing room. We should give them a better performance. It was a horrible error from the Liverpool loanee but Rovers could hardly complain they had been hard done to. I could have changed the whole team. Boos were audible from the 3,427 travelling away fans at half-time with their side struggling to gain any foothold in attack.
Marks out of ten for every Blackburn Rovers player after their Championship match against Wigan Athletic.
Ran the channels but didn't get a sniff at goal. Came on for Hirst just after the interval. He had one big chance at the back post but had to rush his shot and missed the target. Played down the centre of the three-man attack and was totally dominated by the three centre-backs. Was having a steady match until his disastrous error gave Wigan the opener. Played a lovely defence-splitting pass to pick out Brereton Diaz for one of the games better openings. Was amongst the better outfield performers. He was robbed on the ball for a big chance in the first half and gave away plenty of silly fouls. Turned way too easily inside the box for Broadhead's chance and was then substituted in the second half with an injury. Taken off at the break. Made the initial save to deny Keane for the Wigan goal but he gobbled up the rebound. That was the only clear-cut chance Tomasson's side mustered as Wigan held on for their first home win of the season.
Leam Richardson hailed the Wigan Athletic supporters for being his side's 12th Man in the huge victory over Blackburn Rovers.
"I thought that was the only difference tonight, and maybe that result was on the back of the output we had at Hull and against Cardiff. "We feed off the fans, and the fans feed off us, it's a real collective effort here. "After the game there's always a lot of emotion, but before the game I know our fans always get behind the players.
Rovers' struggles on the road continue at a ground where they have enjoyed very little success.
All five of their defeats away from home have been to nil, as was the home defeat to Stoke City. On the ball, the build-up was slow, movement static, and ultimately they were punished for taking too long on the ball in their own defensive third. They looked for Ben Brereton at every opportunity, but otherwise looked lost for ways o getting back into the game. The 5-2-3 formation asks a lot of the central midfield two, particularly against a Wigan side who operated with a four-man ‘box’ midfield. He conceded a number of cheap fouls when forced into his defensive work, and wasn’t able to provide any threat going the other way. Jon Dahl Tomasson stuck with 10 of the 11 players who started the win over Rotherham, with George Hirst for Sam Gallagher the one alteration. They managed only three shots at goal, none of which were on target. Tomasson changed the shape of the side to 4-3-3, with Adam Wharton replacing the injured Daniel Ayala, but was again the lack of minutes for Bradley Dack, not sent on until the 83rd minute despite Rovers chasing a goal, that bore the brunt of questions from supporters both at home and in the away end. Rovers have failed to score in five of their seven away matches, having also failed to find the net in seven of their final 12 away fixtures last season. Their ‘expected goals’ figure at Wigan was 0.18, and their figure of 0.67 expected goals per away game is the lowest in the division. While they have taken 15 points out of a possible 21 at Ewood, with five wins from seven, it’s the same number of defeats from their seven away fixtures. Nine of those visits have been a victory for the home side, with Rovers taking away just four points out of a possible 36, as well as defeat in the FA Cup in January.
