The former maths teacher was his heaviest in 2003, tipping the scales at 29 stone. He managed to knock 10 stone off the scales.

Speaking to Dermot O'Leary and Joanna Page on ITVs The Pet Show, he said the Labrador Retriever - named Baloo - had helped him become more active. Many mentioned how well he came across - and some even said the star should have his own show. Mark said the secret to his weight loss involved cutting back on carbs and sugar. The former maths teacher was then later diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2016, prompting him to make serious lifestyle changes in order to protect his health. The Chase's Mark Labbett says he cut out two food groups to lose a whopping 10 stone. He has since explain that his huge weight loss came down to cutting just two food groups.

Mark Labbett has continued his icnredible weight loss journey by slimming down again, noting that cutting out two foods helped him to do so.

He also found that the weight continued to drop off after displaying Covid-like symptoms such as a loss of taste and smell, saying he "didn't want to eat" in the two weeks that he had them. In terms of diet, cutting down on sugar and carbs was the key to his "complete nutrition overhaul". Speaking to the Loose Women panel last year, he explained: "I found at the end of the evening instead of going to the fridge for late night snacking, all I could do was collapse on the bed." He also has his pet Labrador Retriever Baloo to thank for his transformation, as he revealed on ITV's The Pet Show with Dermot O'Leary and Joanna Page.
