Sheffield Wednesday play Bristol Rovers later today in League One fixture as their league rivals seek transfer potentials for January transfer window.

The 25-year-old has played in all 15 matches for the Minstermen since their promotion from National League North this season, with the team keeping five clean sheets when he has been present. Bristol Rovers are reportedly on the hunt for the National League star Maxim Kouogun. O’Neil was at the Owls’ rivals Portsmouth from 2000 to 2007 before moving to Middlesbrough. The former Portsmouth midfielder Gary O’Neil has been the caretaker of Bournemouth FC since they let Scott Parker go in August. Bayliss, 23, was formerly at Coventry City and Preston North End, has played 15 matches so far this 2022/23 season, scoring three goals in his capacity as midfielder. Michael Carrick has recently been confirmed as the new manager of Boro.

Joey Barton reveals thoughts over “top side” Sheffield Wednesday ... (Football League World)

Bristol Rovers will have another tough league fixture in midweek, with the Gas set to face off against Sheffield Wednesday. Having played Plymouth…

In a division like League One, and in the EFL in general, plenty of teams have already proven that anything is possible when it comes to claiming wins. They will feel they can do something similar against the Owls now and the proof is in the pudding. Rovers have certainly proven they can do that in the third tier already this campaign.

Bristol Rovers player ratings: 'Stupendous' - One player scores 9/10 ... (BristolWorld)

Bristol Rovers earned another positive result against top-six opposition with a 1-1 draw at Sheffield Wednesday.

He was replaced by Luke McCormick in the latter stages. Both attacking and defending, most came from the opposite flank. He perhaps should have got on the scoresheet with his early opportunity had he showed his clinical edge. Loft started the match brightly and put pressure on to Michael Ihiekwe which created Rovers’ best chance of the first-half. A deserved warm embrace shared between him and Barton as he was substituted. Finley had some nervy moments but got into the game and was composed in the middle. He is adding more to his game as an all-round player too. Another solid showing from the on-loan Burnley man. The Hillsborough crowd also claimed he had handled the ball in the box. He made several good saves including a fine stop from Lee Gregory and Smith. As half-time loomed, Wednesday took the lead out of nothing. [Middlesbrough](/topic/middlesbrough) loanee Josh Coburn equalised after the hour mark.

Sheffield Wednesday man's future in doubt after what Darren Moore ... (Yorkshire Live)

Here are five talking points after Sheffield Wednesday were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Bristol Rovers.

Mallik Wilks looked completely off the pace and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru was introduced too late to make a telling contribution. It was another missed opportunity to keep pace with the top two. Ihiekwe is set to serve a one-match suspension and Moore has already confirmed Heneghan will miss the Burton Albion clash. Starting Iorfa would have reduced the amount of upheaval at the back. There were new roles for everybody and there was understandably a lack of cohesion and understanding. The visitors squeezed and pressed the Owls well. Brown was not the worst player on the pitch by any means but he was caught out for Rovers equaliser. "When you have got people on the pitch like Mallik Wilks, [Lee] Gregory, [Michael] Smith, [Josh] Windass to name a few, we feel we will score goals. There are things that Darren Moore can be criticised for when it comes to the way he sets up his team but his players have let him down against Lincoln City and Rovers with their abject finishing. But Rovers hit back after the break and equalised after a lovely finish from strike Josh Coburn. How many attempts have the Owls had in the last two matches? Darren Moore's side surrendered a first half lead for the second match running as they missed a chance to close the gap on second-placed Ipswich Town.
