The Shake It Off singer had been up for roles of Cosette and Eponine in the 2012 musical movie.

Oscar-winner Redmayne, who also appears on this week’s episode of the BBC chat show, then chipped in: “I thought we would just be singing off each other — I didn’t know we would be in each other’s arms. But, they asked if I would like to go to London to do a screen test with Eddie, who is one of my favourite actors, and I thought ‘This isn’t an experience I am going to get again in my life,’ so I said yes. When I met Eddie I didn’t open my mouth to speak!”

Taylor Swift has opened up about "Les Misérables" audition where she was asked to try for street urchin Éponine which involved painting her teeth brown.

The critically acclaimed actor said that he had pizza and garlic dough balls just before meeting her and didn’t want to breathe garlic on her. However, he casted the popstar in Cats (2019), which was based on the stage musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber, but it turned out to be a commercial failure. When the producers informed her that she’d had to meet Redmayne with her costume, including the brown teeth, it became a nightmare for her.
