Jackson to take from the left - on his right foot! The latter slips Spencer in again to cross, and it's blocked - corner on the right. It's given away, but Camara wins it back and sends Jackson up the left, but his cross is cleared. "And then there will be times when the best they can do is maintain their position. It comes to nothing as Rhodes can't find space to shoot or play in Rudoni, but Town are keeping the pressure on well here. Good ball from Pritchard to tee up Amad inside the box.

Was caught out of position once but got back quickly to make a recovery block, defended well and played a great cross to his opposing full back Cirkin only for the left back to shoot wide. Another good game for Amad, linked up well with Roberts and plays as if he is more experienced than he is. Should have scored early on but read the game well very late on to clear before the second goal.

REPORT: TOWN 0-2 SUNDERLAND (htafc.com)

Despite Town's best efforts, it was the goals from Alex Pritchard and Amad Diallo in the second half that saw the Terriers defeated at the John Smith's Stadium.

That led to Sunderland launching a counter-attack, leading to the first goal. His shot hit the ‘keeper and came back out to Rhodes in the box, who sent the reebound high and over the bar. This was followed by a shot by Rudoni from outside the box, which went just wide. However, this meant that Leon Dajaku could make his attempt on the rebound, but his shot went just wide and out for a goal kick to Town. He used the set piece to pass the ball to Jack Rudoni, who turned and hit a shot that went just over the bar. A second corner was awarded to Town due to Championship debutant Brodie Spencer’s valiant efforts by the corner flag.

But it's great to get three points in the bag knowing that we are miles better than we showed." I was also pleased for Alex Pritchard scoring a good goal, because it's difficult going to an old club and he was getting pelters from their supporters. The late goal was disappointing but it came when we were still pushing for an equaliser, so it was an unfortunate night and we are not performing like a team that is bottom of the league." Huddersfield moved the ball around well and caused us problems and our performance was like the weather - not very good at all. He's scored two goals now in just over a week and that's good for the team because I feel I have unearthed another starter now. It was his debut and he's 18 but he performed like a man.

Ben Jackson – Had a really good first half on the wing but too imprecise in the second half to have much of an effect from left-back. Duane Holmes – Started on the right wing before switching to the left in the half-time reshuffle. Went off 20 minutes from time having had a decent outing in tough conditions. David Kasumu – Great work off the ball and carried it well. Understandably a little tentative in the early going but grew into the game. Couldn't rdo anything to stop Pritchard's goal but will be disappointed to be nutmegged by Amad for the second.

Amad went close from just inside the box as the visitors steadied and intermittently threatened, but the game remained too close for comfort and Diarra underlined that when firing just wide on the break. That slowly began to change, and a quarter of an hour in they had a big chance when O’Nien swung in a cross from deep on the right flank. To reflect just how bad the conditions in which both sides were labouring were, there was at one stage a break in play as an advertising banner had been blown onto the pitch.

Huddersfield Town sweating on new injury blows after Sunderland ... (Football League World)

Huddersfield Town are sweating on injuries picked up by Yuta Nakayama and Ben Jackson in last night's clash with Sunderland.

That’s the case for Huddersfield Town when it comes to injuries. “The game went that quickly that I’ve not had chance to assess their injuries. Nakayama was stretchered from the field on the stroke of half-time with what looked like a knee injury. I was trying to focus on getting ourselves in a situation to win the game or at least push for a draw that was the minimum we deserved,” Fotheringham stated in his press conference. It’s now a waiting game for Huddersfield, with Fotheringham unable to provide a concrete update on either players following the game. Alex Pritchard and Amad Diallo struck in the second-half to secure the points for Sunderland, who left Huddersfield rooted to the foot of the Championship table.
