'Stupid' - Simon Jordan gives scathing assessment of Coventry City ... (Coventry Live)

CoventryLive brings you the latest Coventry City news as Simon Jordan analyses what happens next after the Sky Blues are handed an eviction notice.

That licence will now be up for negotiation between Coventry and Mike Ashley and unless Mike Ashley gets what he wants out of it, which is his gift, and so would it be your gift if you were a landlord, and finds a solution to the problem, or they will have to relocate. "You’ve got Coventry City sitting there under a licence which is now null and void, so they have to renegotiate and clearly what is happening is that Ashley is saying, clearly what you are paying for this stadium is not sufficient. "Wasps had the headlease, they granted the licence, this tells you how much of a mess that the current owners of Coventry have made of Coventry that they were last in the pecking order to be able to try and buy the stadium or to even get a lease on it. He then develops it and makes it more of a hotel environment, a retail environment, a resident environment and they find a solution that way. "The alternative that he does is he moves them out, they go and get rehoused, maybe at the University of Warwickshire which is what they have been talking about doing. If you have a building and you rent it, you make money out of it, that’s the reason you bought the building. So what Ashley is trying to do, whether you like it or you don’t, is basically commercialise his property to his benefit and not to Coventry’s which is what anybody would do if they bought that stadium as an asset. "They are stupid because the ownership process is very simple. Doug King will have been privy to this and they will not be booted out now, they will be booted out in May 2023. Frasers Group have presented the club with a new licence agreement proposal, but the [Sky Blues](https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/all-about/coventry-city-fc) say it is less favourable to the football club and would only last until May 2023. "Hence the reasons why my interest in Coventry, which was lukewarm at best, was even less after looking at it in more detail because of the stadium situation and it’s very simple. There is ACL which is the Arena Coventry Ltd that did the deal in the first place to build the stadium and managed the stadium, granted a 250-year lease which is what Mike Ashley has bought.

When Coventry City could leave CBS Arena as Simon Jordan ... (Coventry Live)

CoventryLive brings you the latest Coventry City news as Simon Jordan explains the details of the club's eviction notice from the CBS Arena.

That licence will now be up for negotiation between Coventry and Mike Ashley and unless Mike Ashley gets what he wants out of it, which is his gift, and so would it be your gift if you were a landlord, and finds a solution to the problem, or they will have to relocate. It is not Mike Ashley’s problem or responsibility to make the commercial viability to make the lease that Coventry no longer have because of the 16 years of a Horlicks they have made of a relationship with Coventry City Council, out of a mess of an ownership model. He then develops it and makes it more of a hotel environment, a retail environment, a resident environment and they find a solution that way. He explained: "He wants it (the stadium) because it’s a commercial asset. Simon Jordan believes it isn't Mike Ashley's fault Coventry City's 'mess of an ownership model' has led them to be handed an eviction notice. The Champ.

But in 2019 the Sky Blues were again homeless due to rent issues and were forced to play their game at Birmingham City’s St. They then returned to the Ricoh Arena at the end of the campaign, renting off Wasps.
