ITV paid tribute to late Technical Director Roger Pearce, who died last month aged 65, after England's World Cup defeat to France.
Studio director and friend Neil Stainsby added on Twitter that Pearce had been due to retire in five weeksโ time, writing: โSo sad to hear of the passing of my friend and former colleague at ITV Meridian, Roger Pearce. He died on his last assignment in Qatar before retirement in 5 weeks time. โHe was utterly dedicated, professional, charming and hugely popular. Pearce, who worked as the Technical Director of Sport for ITV, died in November just five weeks before he was due to retire.
A tribute to Pearce appeared on screen after the coverage of the match ended. Speaking ahead of the Wales game against USA, he: "We have some very sad news to bring you from here in Quatar. "Our technical director, Roger Pearce, who was here embarking on his eighth World Cup has sadly passed away."
