Snow In London: Travel Disruption, Warm Banks, And Frolicking Foxes (Londonist)

Unless you live in a windowless house, you'll probably have noticed it's been snowing in London — that icy double-edged sword which makes everything look ...

Their journalists (do we call them that?) will be cock-a-hoop that it's actually gone and ruddy snowed today — although would you classify this as a SNOW BOMB, BLITZ, BATTERING... or a MILDY DISRUPTIVE SCATTERING OF LIGHT SNOW? Help is at hand in many of London's boroughs, though, where warm banks have been set up — [pic.twitter.com/nCacafUuOq] [December 11, 2022] [#londonsnow] [pic.twitter.com/6Kn6CeVd3u] [December 11, 2022] [severe delays on many tube and Overground lines](https://tfl.gov.uk/tube-dlr-overground/status/) "due to track faults caused by heavy snow and ice." ❄️🌍🎄 [pic.twitter.com/lZzjbAEZwV] [December 11, 2022] [pic.twitter.com/wbDMxMuKDo] [December 11, 2022] [#uksnow] [pic.twitter.com/5atIAdOZ5a] [December 11, 2022] Here's a small snowy selection: The latest update is that the section between junctions 23 and 25 has now reopened — but it goes without saying that you shouldn't be driving out there today unless utterly necessary. Never seen anything like this and Iv not seen any emergency services.— Micheala Cronin (@MichealaCronin)

One-week Pokémon rebrand of London cable car earned eye ... (MyLondon)

A minimum of 2,750 Tube Maps across the TfL network in rail and underground, DLR and bus stations and the London Tram Network; Branded space also hosted on PDF ...

The firm paid around £850,000 (plus VAT) - worth around £950,000 in today’s money - for sponsorship rights on the Tube map and other promotion from TfL. CEO Richard Busby took an educated guess and predicted that IKEA would be sponsoring TfL in a deal worth £1.5million. "Obviously there’s the issue of declining passenger numbers, but with the Elizabeth line opening we’re expecting a big boost in demand. Sponsorship investment in the UK dropped during the pandemic by a fifth and has not yet fully recovered. Caroline Pidgeon AM, Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member, also expressed concerns that a "poor deal has been struck". It should be £1 million at least, especially with a big new change of publicity with the addition of the Elizabeth line." Originally from Cornwall, he is now also a proud Londoner. [TfL](https://tfl.gov.uk/) are so short of money that every little counts. Each partnership is bespoke and the commercial terms reflect the rights included, the resource required for delivery, the contract term and the market context at the time. TfL's deal with IKEA which lasts for 12 months compares much less favourably. They also rebranded tickets barriers, nearby advertising sites and waiting areas, with Pokémon themed music and public information system announcements. The summer Pokémon rebrand lasted from August 17-August 23, with famous Nintendo characters earning rights to wrap 36 cable cars with Pokémon designs.
