Buckingham Palace will have wanted to draw a line under what had been an embarrassing row. Lady Susan, a godmother to Prince William, asked what part of Africa Ms Fulani was from, despite Ms Fulani explaining that she worked in London and had been born in the UK. Ms Fulani, founder of the Sistah Space charity, was a guest at a Buckingham Palace reception last month when she described Lady Susan moving her hair to see her name badge, and challenging her to explain where she was "really from".

Queen's Former Aide Apologies In Person To Ngozi Fulani After ... (HuffPost UK)

Lady Susan Hussey and the British charity boss have met after the late monarch's lady in waiting faced a backlash for asking where she “really came from”.

The encounter is said to have begun when the former royal aide, who served as the late Queen’s lady in waiting for more than 60 years and had an honorary role as one of three Ladies of the Household, touched the charity boss’ hair, moving it aside so she could see her name badge. [Prince of Wales](https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/news/Prince-Willliam)’s godmother, resigned from the household and apologised after she repeatedly challenged Fulani when she said she was British at the Queen Consort’s reception highlighting violence against women and girls. Ngozi Fulani: Palace race row accuser's charity given 'conflict of ... (Telegraph.co.uk)

Questions had been raised about Sistah Space's governance and it admitted 'issues with the reporting of our accounts'

The charity runs a shop and drop-in centre which have remained closed over safety fears. It had also hoped to open a permanent refuge house for black female victims of domestic violence. Her “interrogator” Lady Susan Hussey, 83, the late Queen Elizabeth’s lady-in-waiting and a godmother to Prince William, was forced to step aside from all royal duties after years of public service. The advice includes “managing any conflict of interest”. The charity has admitted it has had “some issues” with its accounts caused by staffing problems during the pandemic. We will assess any further concerns that are raised with us about this, or any charity.”

Why it's valid to ask where Ngozi Fulani is really from (Telegraph.co.uk)

She may have made up with Lady Hussey today, but questions about the charity boss's African identity remain.

Fulani, as an apparent student of African tribes and societies, will know that respect for elders is a strong theme that runs through the continent. Another explanation may be that she belongs to the Rastafarian movement, which itself is rooted in pan-Africanism. In fact, if I were an easily offended person, I might consider these factors to be a case of Fulani appropriating my West African culture. [asked to black charity boss Ngozi Fulani by Lady Susan Hussey](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2022/11/30/royal-household-member-resigns-unacceptable-deeply-regrettable/) at a Buckingham Palace reception in November, was immediately condemned as an act of racism committed by someone at the heart of the British establishment. Questions may now have started to be asked about other areas of Fulani’s role, but, in my view, the lack of scrutiny regarding her initial accusation counts as a miscarriage of justice and a failure to uphold proper journalistic standards. I believe the answer to this is a firm “Yes”.
