The Men in Green will hope to avoid a first-ever series at home and give a winning farewell to Azhar, who has been a great servant of Pakistan cricket, especially in the longest format of the game. The visitors have not only won the first two Tests but done that with rather style and panache. Ben Stokes' England Test team has been nothing short of a statement in itself.

Those included a thick outside edge for four from Babar, slashing at a wide legbreak, but the rest came when Ahmed erred too full or short in his first spell. Shafique reviewed unsuccessfully, the ball predicted to clip leg stump by ball-tracking. The umpires were unclear if the ball had carried, with an soft signal of 'not out', but Marais Erasmus overturned the on-field decision.

Agha turned Rehan into the leg side and set off for a single, with Babar reluctantly accepting the call. He signals his plan by setting a 3/6 field, and confirms it by ramming the first ball into the middle of the pitch. Shakeel didn’t slap a full toss to midwicket; he was unsettled by the googly and then pushed nervously at the next ball. Agha comes down the track to crunch a couple into the leg side, the only runs from the over. 62nd over: Pakistan 224-6 (Agha 12, Faheem 0) Faheem survives an appeal for a catch down the leg side off Leach. Nauman pushed at a delivery that turned down the leg side, with Foakes clasping the ball at the second attempt. Agha is surprised by a short ball that follows him and rams into first the collarbone and then the (unprotected) side of the neck. There’s a break in play while he has a concussion test, so the umpires have called for drinks. 69th over: Pakistan 250-7 (Agha 26, Nauman 8) A short ball from Rehan is savaged for four by Agha, an excellent shot. 70th over: Pakistan 257-7 (Agha 31, Nauman 10) Agha sweeps Leach firmly round the corner for four more. Duckett missed a sweep and was hit on the side in front of off and middle stump. 76th over: Pakistan 286-8 (Agha 50, Wasim 0) With the tail finally exposed, Mark Wood returns to the attack.

And given how the spinners started to dominate from second half of the second session, it appears to be a spin-fest. With about 14 minutes to stumps, opener Crawley was trapped plumb in front in the very first over from Abrar Ahmed and if that is any indication of things to come, we are in for a thrilling second day's play which promises to be a contest between spin vs smash. Also, Rehan ahmed became the only second England leg spinner after Ian Salisbury to claim two wickets in the first innings on Test debut. Urooj Mumtaz, before the start of play, opined that the pitch looks like a second-day wicket with plenty of cracks sans any moisture.
'Absolute wizard': England unleash 'unbelievable' teenage prodigy in 73-year first.
when he gets you out in the nets, he’ll definitely celebrate his wickets. “He’s got a vast array of shots. “If you want me at the death, if you want me to open the bowling, I’m ready to do it.” “I’m going to keep a close eye on you,” the Australian cricket legend said in the clip. In the semi-final against Afghanistan, he took three wickets in the penultimate over to help England secure a 15-run victory and book their spot in the final. “I think it’s a good opportunity for us to not only look at him but for him to come in and experience what it’s like to play international cricket,” Stokes said.
Azhar Ali hopes for farewell appearance as Pakistan seek to end series on a high.
Azhar did not play in Multan after a disappointing display at Rawalpindi - his haul of 67 runs across two innings meant he was the only member of the top three on either team to miss out on a hundred - and was hampered by a finger injury as Pakistan failed to bat out for a draw on the final day. The downside for Stokes is that he lost out to none other than his coach, McCullum, and as a forfeit, will have the pleasure of waiting on Brook at the team's pre-match dinner. Ben Foakes returns in place of Will Jacks - the man who stepped in at the last minute in Rawalpindi when Foakes failed to recover from illness - meaning that Ollie Pope relinquishes the gloves that he donned with some distinction in the first two Tests. As Rob Key related in the lead-up to the series, the plan had always been to add him to the tour, but without fanfare - so as not to drench the moment in hype - and, crucially, not before Brendon McCullum had had a chance to assess his character up close and in person. And it seems that McCullum liked what he saw - Ahmed's thwack-happy innings of 26 from 10 balls in the warm-up match in Abu Dhabi was every bit as revealing as the eight expensive and wicketless overs that preceded it. On the one hand, it's bold to the point of impetuous - the boy is barely 18, and has played the grand total of three first-class matches - but on the other, it's a perfectly calculated risk. But on both occasions, the thrill of Pakistan's chase came down to the ingeniously weighted targets that Stokes had been willing to dangle - through a bold declaration at Rawalpindi, then through what was effectively an auto-completed second innings at Multan, where England's loss of five wickets for 19 runs seemed to matter less than the desire to keep their quarry interested in a nominal target of 355. It's only ingenious if it works, of course - and until Mark Wood got busy on that fourth afternoon, there was maybe just a whiff of hubris in the air. They've been creating their own intensity since the start of this remarkable run back in June - eight wins in nine Tests now, and each one of them a humdinger - and having lived up to their stated intention to play for a result come what may, we'd best buckle up and see what variation on the theme they serve up this time. And though the weapons at Stokes' disposal proved more than sufficient in the end, they've decided, in keeping with their zeitgeist, not to duck the opportunity a second time. Twenty-two years, almost to the week, have elapsed since [they last played a Test in Karachi](https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/england-tour-of-pakistan-2000-01-61759/pakistan-vs-england-3rd-test-63901/full-scorecard)…
Teenage leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed will become England's youngest men's Test cricketer when he takes to the field in the third and final game against Pakistan.
“He’s got a vast array of shots. I think we’re going to be commentating on you really soon. “I think it’s a good opportunity for us to not only look at him but for him to come in and experience what it’s like to play international cricket,” Stokes said.
Saud Shakeel inside-edged onto his pads and Ollie Pope took a diving catch at short leg.
Hopefully he will be able to feel like he can express himself and I think we are at the start of something for us." His first Test wicket followed from a stock delivery that Shakeel inside-edged onto his pads. A nervous set of six followed with Ahmed starting full and straight for no run before a full toss that was worked for two.
By Nick Hoult, in Karachi. “We are at the start of something,” said Ben Stokes as he confirmed Rehan Ahmed's debut as England's youngest ever Test cricketer ...
After Faheem’s dismissal, Agha Salman and Nuaman Ali started to take the day away from England with a 48 run stand for the eighth wicket but Leach came back and finished it off with three in four overs. With a better rhythm to his bowling he was effective and Pakistan struggled to pick the googly. In five overs he took one for 19, the maiden wicket of Shakeel was one to remember. Foakes gathered the ball but as he did so he flicked a bail off with his glove. A hug and kiss from his dad was followed by warm applause from the small contingent of England fans who recognised this moment of history. Mohammad Rizwan, their second most likely batsman to make a big score, pulled a full toss to midwicket as Pakistan faltered in the face of aggressive fields, some short pitched quick stuff which knocked over two of the top three and positive captaincy matched with good fielding on a flat pitch.
He would have wanted more wickets of course, but Rehan Ahmed could not have asked for much more from his first day of Test cricket.
Four wickets from Jack Leach and an excellent performance from debutant Rehan Ahmed saw England bowl out Pakistan for 304 on day one of the third Test, ...
The pair took Pakistan to the cusp of lunch before Azhar gloved a leg-side delivery from Robinson through to Ben Foakes to leave the score at 117 for three. Then Agha Salman would run-out his captain Babar for 78 after a fantastic one-handed pick up from Foakes where in one motion he claimed Brook’s throw on the bounce and then removed the bails. First Stokes took a skier to dismiss Nauman Ali for a brisk 20, before Salman was comprehensively stumped and No11 Abrar Ahmed clean bowled as Pakistan finished on 304 all out. The ball looked to be falling painfully out of the reach of fielder Harry Brook, but stationed at short leg he dived forward one-handed and plucked the ball off the turf before all 10 of the England team swarmed Ahmed in celebration. Not long after, Leach would be in the thick of the action again. His first five overs went for 35 runs as Azhar Ali and Babar Azam punished any waverings of length from the teenager.
