Blackburn Rovers player ratings as John Buckley justifies recall in ... (Accrington Observer)

Marks out of ten from Blackburn Rovers' Championship match against Norwich City on Sky Sports.

Scored the crucial second with a deflected strike after a good driving run. Worked hard as ever for the team. The Chilean was never afforded a real sight of goal as Norwich marked him tightly. Pressed really well and worked himself into the ground. Buckley looked like a player with a point to prove and he did just that. Solid at left-back on his return to the team. The sort of subtle defending that often goes unnoticed in the build-up to attacks. Defended well and took a good yellow card for the team in the first half. Didn't have a real save of note for long periods to make but dealt with everything that came his way. Once again, Rovers were able to soak up the pressure and see out the three points, as they have done every time they've led this season. Led by the recalled Tyrhys Dolan, it was chalk and cheese from the laboured, tepid displays served up in their last two Lancashire derbies. Jon Dahl Tomasson's side got off to the perfect start at Carrow Road as Tyler Morton's free-kick evaded the touch of Sam Gallagher but hit Ben Gibson and flew past Angus Gunn.

Norwich were booed off the pitch after a 2-0 defeat against promotion rivals Blackburn at Carrow Road on Saturday night. Ben Gibson's own goal (4) and a late strike from Tyrhys Dolan (86) secured just a second win in five matches for Rovers, ...

"I understand frustration and disappointment, but leave it until the end of the game, because otherwise it will just play havoc on players' minds as well. Norwich's Dean Smith: "We didn't create big enough chances with the amount of the ball we had. "A win today would have put us in third place. Rovers held on to the lead at the break, however, despite generating an expected goals total of just 0.03. We were a little bit slow on the ball and we never beat the press enough. Within five minutes, they had made the dream start.

Report: Blackburn Rovers issue perfect response with Norwich City ... (Lancashire Telegraph)

A Ben Gibson own goal and late Tyrhys Dolan strike, also via a deflection, helped Rovers to a 13th win of the season and moved them back into third spot. But ...

The first moment of concern came just before the half hour, Morton losing the ball on halfway, leaving Ayala with no option but to bring down Teemu Pukki 25 yards out. It was a huge moment in the game as Rovers looked out on their feet and were hugely relieved to see the ball nestle in the net via another deflection. Rankin-Costello was doing a good job on danerman Sargent, but was putting up good resistance, though Rovers were struggling to keep the ball in the Norwich half. The returns of Dolan and Gallagher enabled Rovers to put in the hard yards at the top end of the pitch, and it worked well as they restricted the hosts to precious little. As was the case at Ewood last week, there was a nervousness among the home support who were wanting their side to move the ball quicker than they were from the back. There was a change of shape, reverting to a back four, as Joe Rankin-Costello came in for his first start in the Championship since August.
