How to Watch 'Love Actually': Where to Stream Richard Curtis ... (Collider.com)

Here's how you can watch Richard Curtis' holiday romcom Love Actually featuring an ensemble cast including Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson.

The Love Actually trailer gives viewers a great feel for the general vibe and feels of the film, which is upbeat, sentimental, and oh-so-festive. While the trailer couldn't possibly fit all of Love Actually's star power into one bite-sized piece, it absolutely sets the scene and is enough to pique any Christmas lover's interest. Billy is attempting to stage a comeback by releasing a cover of a classic rock song skewed with overly-festive lyrics, hoping that the track will top the Christmas charts. The two connect as Sam experiences his first-ever true love, falling for an American classmate of his, and concocts a plan to try and impress her before she leaves for America. The film is also available to rent and purchase on your platform of choice. While staying at the cottage and working diligently on his book, Jamie meets his Portuguese housekeeper Aurélia (Lúcia Moniz), and the two begin a flirtation, despite not speaking the same language. [Colin Firth](https://collider.com/best-colin-firth-movies/) stars as writer Jamie, who flees to his French cottage after finding his girlfriend cheating on him at his home in London. Love Actually follows ten stories of strangers, friends, lovers, and families as they go about their lives in the run-up to Christmas. The movie also stars Keira Knightley as the newly-wed bride Juliet, with Chiwetel Ejiofor starring as her groom, Peter. Each story delves into the intricacies of love, relationships, and heartache, as well as the stress that these relationships can fall under when the holidays roll around. The sequel also stars Patrick Dempsey, who appeared in a newly-created role. For many, Love Actually is a Christmas classic.

Will Love Actually ever go out of date, actually? (whynow)

On the 20th anniversary of the Christmas classic, Love Actually, we interview five first-time viewers to find out how well the film has aged.

“Would I go watch it now? “To love and be loved is a universal thing that most people want in their lives. “Richard Curtis hasn’t heard of the epidemic of lonely young men due to dating app I was surprised to find one of the most iconic stories in the film provoked some very different reactions – that of Mark (Andrew Lincoln) and Juliet (Keira Knightley). A storyline that flopped for magazine founder Vanessa, 33, was the “practically pornographic” one about the body doubles. “Comments like ‘sissy’ age it more than the actual love stories,” Jo believes. Natalie’s line “‘I’m from Wandsworth the dodgy end’ made me laugh,” Finlay recalls, “she lives in a lovely house!” “It’s like when you watch Friends and you’re a bit annoyed by how nice their flat is.” Whilst the fact that it’s idealised is a bit annoying, I think that’s sort of the point. The lack of diversity makes me feel uncomfortable and a bit stupid.” Very woke of you to say, Richard. “Is Hugh Grant in it?” asked another. “I loathe that movie,” one person wrote, without explanation.

Is Love Actually Problematic? (Impact Magazine)

Richard Curtis, the director of beloved Christmas rom-com Love Actually, has recently admitted that the film's lack of diversity makes him “feel uncomfortable and a bit stupid.” But does this remove from the film's merits? How should we treat those old ...

Of course, it is up to the individual to decide whether the pitfalls of a film outweigh the positives. You can laugh at Hugh Grant’s dance in 10 Downing Street whilst simultaneously disagreeing with the lack of diversity and being aware that a broader spectrum of love exists. Whilst watching Grease, it is possible to enjoy it for what it is whilst also acknowledging aspects of it as problematic. However, before condemning it utterly, it is important to also factor two things into consideration: the time in which a film was made and the intention behind it. Watching the film in 2022, it is certainly easy to notice that almost all the couples are white and straight.

“To this day, there’s many people, and I agree with them, who think it’s the most excruciating scene ever committed to celluloid. He said: “We decided to do it like how Mike Newell did it in Four Weddings—I shot in medium-wide, and didn’t move the camera. I didn’t fancy doing the dance at all, let alone rehearsing it,.” Speaking on Live with Kelly and Ryan, the actor said: “It meant that I got time off of school to go to this audition, so I went to it. But if it was up to Hugh, that scene would’ve never happened. We just let it happen, and Emma walked into the room 12 times in a row and sobbed.
