They surprise, frustrate, and delight us in so many ways as the story is told that solving the mystery is second to the sheer fun of watching these absurd people do absurd things. When you do finally get the answers to the questions that are the foundation stones of the story, upon which everything else is built, they make sense. There has been no shortage recently of shows and films that poke fun at the uber-rich to the delight (not to mention the schadenfreude) of audiences. Part of Blanc’s plan of getting Helen to impersonate her dead sister is to see how the guests would react seeing her turn up. Glass Onion ends as the attendees take in the explosion that Helen ignited. As the lights go out in the Glass Onion, the group suspects "Andi" of trying to murder Miles and they scatter. He goes to her house and spikes her drink, before leaving her in her car while the engine is running, staging the whole thing as a suicide. But Miles sets the napkin alight and the group refuses to back Helen up. When Andi finds evidence to dispute this, Miles decides there is no way out of the situation other than murdering her. Helen arrives and brandishes the napkin she’s found, threatening to go to the police with the evidence. All the while, Blanc gathers the rest of the group in the art room – where Miles has placed the Mona Lisa on loan from The Louvre – and concludes the billionaire must be responsible for the murder. As they settle in, Miles shows them his Glass Onion – a glass house located at the center of the island. However, when she sends an email to all of them proving she’s found it, she winds up dead in her home and the napkin is stolen.

It’s the delight of connecting up that moment, when you come back to it halfway through, with the moment from the beginning was kind of the idea of it,” said Johnson.

Sitting at the pinnacle of his island compound is a structure known as the Glass Onion, a crystalline sphere where everyone can hang out and look at the Mona Lisa. With Glass Onion, Johnson punches people on the schnozz: The Bautista character is an obnoxious douchesack with a holster on his speedo. The dock to his island is a Banksy. He keeps us off-balance for two hours as he twists and manipulates with wily cleverness, all the while taking aim at political/social/moral targets that are so big and juicy and deserving of the satirical skewer, we can’t help but laugh. Bron wonders the same thing, because he didn’t invite the world-famous Blanc – it must be a joke, Bron deduces, and it’ll be revealed soon enough. There’s a great bit where Blanc asks what the prize for winning the mystery is, and Bron laughs, as if his admiration for solving his little puzzle just wouldn’t be enough. And who should receive one but one Benoit Blanc, who we see playing Among Us in the tub, BECAUSE OF COURSE HE IS. He spends hours and hours in there – wine, shower cap, the whole thing, waiting out the pandemic.
