After four weeks of game play, suspicion, and teamwork Aaron, Hannah and Meryl successfully banished all the Traitors to take home the grand prize.
I was myself the whole way through and watching it back I’m proud that I was truly me the whole time. All the things that we’ve done have been once-in-a-lifetime moments and I got to experience all of that in the safety and organisation of this amazing production. I could have the exact same challenge and the exact same experience as everyone else. When I was at The Traitors I realised how independent I was and how much I can actually do on my own without relying on other people because it was all down to me. I never in a million years thought I was going to win the show. I never went in there to win the show. I was in shock with it all. I didn’t really know how to feel at that point in time, but I think you can see by my reactions on the show, I was just overwhelmed. I was genuinely in shock. It’s an opportunity many people will never have, and I feel so lucky and happy and just completely grateful to the whole process. She was always so fun to be around and always spurred us on to do the best that we possibly could. I wasn’t nervous, I was asking them to go higher!
Viewers were gripped to Thursday's final as a "parting gift" changed the course of the reality show.
His vote went to Wilf as he hinted to Hannah, through facial expressions, there was still a traitor in the group. "The best thing I did was lose. I don't think I could have lived with the guilt in the end." "I can't put into words... I've had to try and steal money from you... The more I've got to know you guys...

After weeks of the treacherous game, Thursday's final saw the five finalists make their last banishments in a bid to win the £100000 jackpot.
She added: “A lot of people have said that it was really traumatic. Afterwards, he said: “I literally just lost over a hundred grand to these three amazing people and I’m really, really happy that they are happy. “I think a lot of the times with my condition a lot of people perceive and doubt me so the whole reason why I wanted to go on the show and complete all the tasks, especially the physical ones, was to show people watching back at home that I can do the exact same as everyone else”, she said. It doesn’t matter, I’m happy. When it was time for the last four to decide if they were all faithfuls and wished to end the game or to banish one more player, Meryl and Wilfred opted to finish while Aaron and Hannah said they were too suspicious of Wilfred. Over the course of the series, four players were made secret traitors and were tasked with “murdering” the other faithful contestants, while the latter had to root out the traitors and “banish” them.
After weeks of the treacherous game, Thursday's episode saw five finalists reduced to the last three winners who split the £100000 prize.

Host Claudia Winkleman was so invested in proceedings that she actually cried in the final episode – and we did a bit, too.
But Kieran wasn’t going down without a final f*** you to Wilf, and he left the faithfuls with a “parting gift” – his single vote to banish his fellow traitor. The traitors “killed” off faithfuls one by one, all while trying to go undetected, and the faithfuls selected who to banish on suspicion of being a traitor. There were five left in the finale last night: traitors Wilf and Kieran, and faithfuls Hannah, Meryl and Aaron. Could I be this two-faced?” And thirdly, no one is falling in love with each other after two days, or saying the words “can I pull you for a chat?” Instead, the catchphrase of this series has been: “I’m 100 per cent faithful.” “You’re a massive d***head but I love you so much,” was Aaron’s perfect, nuanced response. And we need to talk about it.
We like to peer through the bars at the reality TV zoo of our own species, because what we find simultaneously attracts and repels us.
We look at the good and bad sides of human behaviour and we see ourselves. At some level, we are all (or all have the potential to be) traitors. It makes perfect sense to me, only I’d go one step further and say that what I think makes us so drawn to TV programmes like The Traitors is empathy. [We can co-opt the joy and tension](https://www.scoopwhoop.com/entertainment/psychology-behind-why-people-love-watching-reality-shows/), without experiencing risk: to our hearts or to our reputations. Just look at what she did in the very first episode! Got rid of the guys who tried to play humble; who pretended they wouldn’t have a hope in hell of winning – which they didn’t, because Winkles ordered them to leave. Get in the bin, she was saying. We are horrified, we are thrilled, we are captivated, we are repulsed, we are aroused. Not so with The Traitors. So, then, The Traitors. We like to peer through the bars at the reality TV zoo of our own species, because what we find there simultaneously attracts and repels us. The two questions are inextricably linked, in my opinion.
Host Claudia will be joined by the final five – Kieran Tompsett, ultimate Traitor Wilfred Webster and winning Faithful trio Meryl Williams, Hannah Byczkowski ...

The pay-off of this gloriously twisted gameshow has such high stress, hellish back-stabs and helicopter dives that everyone ends up crying … even Claudia ...
Despite Claudia’s best efforts to crank up the drama, Kieran is ready to fall on his sword – as Hannah says to him at one point: “You look like you’re about to explode with guilt.” But whether you want the Traitors to win or you’re, as they say, 100% Faithful, this has been the reality TV highlight of the year. The mission, a heart-pounding treasure hunt around a Scottish loch (of course), involves two people jumping out of a helicopter, a hurtling speedboat, riddles, digging in sand and someone shouting into a tiny megaphone. He rallied (just) while the others banished Maddy, but within 10 minutes of the final episode his precarious position is clearly weighing on his mind. Of course, the final episode ramps up the heat even further. As the old saying goes: keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
After a weeks of tension, the series finale of The Traitors aired on BBC One last night, revealing the winners and who was actually a traitor.
This meant Aaron, Hannah and Meryl were crowned the winners of the show. The three traitors were picked at the beginning of the series by Claudia, and had to keep their identity a secret from the rest of the group, aka the faithfuls. And whilst we're gutted one of our favourite shows of the year has come to an end, the viewers (us included) could not be more happy with the outcome of the series finale.
BBC's The Traitors, a psychological reality show presented by Claudia Winkleman, filmed at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands, has gripped the nation.
The castle and estate properties have been extensively renovated too. In 1937, the estate was broken up and sold. The 1st Duke of Sutherland bought Ardross in the late 1700s, and built a hunting lodge. Matheson purchased Ardross, amounting to 60,000 acres, for £90,000, and he set about developing the estate with the intention of attracting tenants to agricultural tenancies. The castle is not open to the public but it is available for exclusive hire, for both corporate and private clients. Watching the players come to their conclusions about who is a Traitor is pure drama, and some people are so good at influencing the group even if their convictions are totally off!'
The hit TV show has showcased the 19th century Highlands castle and its expansive grounds.
The show sees contestants battle against one and other to discover who is a faithful and who is not in a bid to win up to £120,000. However, The Traitors has put the castle firmly on the map as a famous landmark. The grounds of the castle also offer opportunity for a range of activities including a GPS Treasure Quest as well as a range of country sports.
The contestants fondly referred to their friendship from the show as their 'trauma bond'.
From the faithful’s point of view, it’s a minefield to say the right thing at the right time and just to survive day by day.” He added: “Your gut feeling is so underrated sometimes, it’s there for a reason. I was still waking up thinking I was in the show. Kieran told PA: “I lost the plot, as you can imagine. Wilfred told the PA news agency: “When I got home, for about a month I felt guilty and paranoid. And then luckily, I flew off to Cyprus for a month to get married so that cleared my mind.
Going into the night it seemed inevitable Wilfred Webster would either take the entire prize fund or split it with the only other traitor remaining, Kieran ...
Each contestant would then decide whether they felt they’d already banished every traitor and the game was over or if there was one more assassin among them. So in a word, yes, the finale of The Traitors was in deed the perfect end to a perfect series. And it worked. The premise is genius. Who can tell, but watching The Traitors series one as it unfolded will be an undisputed highlight of 2022 for all of those millions of viewers who got to experience the blistering drama together. After getting rid of two traitors and banishing 16 faithfuls, Wilf was so close to grabbing the final £101,050 but in an extraordinary turn of events, he lost it to the worthy winners and came clean.
