How Death In Paradise's Christmas special sets up season 12 (digitalspy.com)

Death in Paradise has introduced a love interest for Neville in Sophie, but what's going to happen next?

After struggling to gain the necessary respect from the public, civilian team member Darlene Curtis (Ginny Holder) announced that she was applying to train as a police officer. Rodell Weekes (Joseph Mydell) was the attacker who had been after Danny's research, wanting to protect his own involvement in Linus's disappearance. But he soon found himself blossoming in his new role, and the driven, determined pair could end up turning their working relationship into an entertaining double act. It was clear that the former spouses still harboured feelings for each other, so could she make another appearance and end up reconciling with Selwyn? That night, Rodell was driving when the boy stepped out in front of his car. But there was another interested party in the form of self-proclaimed psychic Danny Sheridan (Les Dennis) – and both he and Jennifer had claimed that Linus was still alive. Back in 1977, Winston had found the young, unconscious Linus floating in the water, and took him home. Meanwhile, after Danny was attacked, the team discovered his self-serving research on Linus, proving that Danny was a fraud. Danny had spotted the adult Linus in Trinidad, and sought out the truth from a dying man called Winston, who held the key to the boy's disappearance. Then came the revelation that Marvin had dissociative identity disorder, and had latched onto his lost brother's identity. When he found a note from Linus begging him for help, it was suggested that his ghost was haunting Marvin. This did, however, allow room for his story to develop in the New Year.

Death in Paradise Christmas Special, review: as uninspiring as an ... (Telegraph.co.uk)

The amiable crime show is supposed to be laidback, relaxing fair, but this festive special was nothing but dull.

By uninspiring I mean the drip-feed of information to suit the narrative (“I’ve been going through the files and I noticed…”), the infuriating habit of characters thinking out loud in order to dole out exposition, and plot twists so ridiculous I did wonder if this was supposed to be a meta-comedy. But, to put it politely, Death in Paradise is not blessed with a huge amount of interesting characters, and McSweeney’s was one of them. Best of all, Derry Girls’ wonderful [Siobhán McSweeney](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/celebrity-interviews/want-show-class-simple-siobhan-mcsweeney-love-northern-ireland/) was our festive guest star, playing a busybody true-crime podcaster called Jennifer Langan who’d come to Saint Marie on a lead.

BBC Death In Paradise: Les Dennis' three wives and how marriage ... (WalesOnline)

Former Family Fortunes host Les Dennis is jetting off to the sunny island of Saint Marie in BBC Death in Paradise's second Christmas Special.

Aside from stand-up comedy and presenting, Les has had a successful career in the theatre. At the age of 18 in 1971, Les would make his radio debut, performing on theatrical agent Stuart Gillespie's series Variety Time in front of a live audience. Les has been married three times, firstly to Lynne Webster and he's currently married to Claire Nicholson with whom he has two children. [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1231285/Amanda-Holden-Les-Dennis-saviour-I-broke-heart-Im-happy-hes-love-again.html) that the media scrutiny was the ‘worst time of her life’. Four years later, Vernon Kay would host a reboot of the show, All Star Family Fortunes. Over the course of his long career, Les has firmly cemented himself as a mainstay of British television - and he's seen plenty of drama off screen too with three marriages, one to BGT's Amanda Holden which ended after she met a famous actor. During his time on Family Fortunes, Les would sometimes say, "If it's [the answer] up there, I'll give you the money myself!" One of his more recent roles was as Gail Platt's fifth husband Michael Rodwell in Coronation Street. She said: “I brought it on myself, I appreciate that, but nothing will ever be as bad again. This, however, wouldn't be the first time that Les has made guest appearances on popular TV shows. Born in Liverpool in 1953, his journey towards stardom began at an early age. And after a chance encounter in an airport car park, could love finally be in the air for Neville Parker?’ While it is unclear just who Barney will play, the BBC has teased that ‘Christmas in Saint Marie takes a spooky turn this year when an old case of Selwyn’s comes back to haunt him following the murder of a true crime podcaster on the hunt for a missing child’. It was announced in October that Bradley Walsh’s son Bradley will be one of the guests who will get to spend Christmas in the Caribbean with D.I. Viewers will be able to catch Death in Paradise on Monday December 6 on BBC One at 9pm. Ralf Little on "slightly eerie" Death in Paradise Christmas special (Radio Times)

The DI Parker star chats to Radio Times magazine about the festive episode and the upcoming season.

"All the stuff he hates doing is all the stuff I love doing. We don’t really get to see each other that often, especially with me being away filming Death in Paradise for six months of the year. "This is the one downside about playing Neville," says Little. "The Christmas episode is like a slightly eerie ghost story in a vaguely Dickensian style. There are some spooky goings-on the gang has to try to explain but Neville, of course, is a cynic. He has to deal with things that he never thought he would have to." The Christmas special was shot in Guadeloupe at the end of May. With a Christmas special on Boxing Day and Little’s third series beginning on 6th January, his character DI Neville Parker is now the longest-serving expat British cop to be trapped on the fictional Caribbean island of Saint Marie. "It’s not an unusual thing in the industry to have to don your Christmas jumpers and party hats at the wrong time of the year," Little, 42, reflects. I was standing in the rain when I was told they wanted me to be the new detective in "My other half and I had pulled up in a car park on the west coast of Ireland. I was banging on the windscreen, trying not to shout it out loud, waving at my girlfriend inside the car, 'I got it, I got it!' You could say I was really delighted."

"Everyone has been so welcoming, and the location is incredible. He provides the familiarity and comfort for her." [Death in Paradise](express.co.uk/latest/death-in-paradise) is going to air its second-ever feature-length Christmas episode on Boxing Day with another head-scratching investigation to solve during the festive period. I think that’s partly what attracted her to Neville. There will also be the prospect of a possible blossoming romance for DI Neville Parker (played by Ralf Little) during the Christmas special. Death in Paradise newcomer details challenges of filming Christmas ... (Daily Express)

Death in Paradise guest star Les Dennis has opened up about the challenges he faced while filming alongside Ralf Little in the Christmas special.

"They would do it in the morning so I would need to be in makeup for about an hour and a half." "So I was a little nervous, but the cast was so welcoming." Les will play medium Danny Sheridan, who ends up helping Neville, Marlon Pryce (Tahj Miles), Naomi Thomas (Shantol Jackson) and Commission Selwyn Pattison (Don Warrington) when they are faced with a difficult case. Touching on the reaction to his new look, Les admitted he was "really surprised". Not only did Les have to deal with being "nervous", but he explained the heat in the Caribbean was a struggle. "It's hot for one thing, you're filming in heat and you're doing the scene, and you think, 'I've got to get this right' because I had a lot of the dialogue in it.
