"Once we got the first goal we just quietened everyone a little bit and then were able to manage it fairly well. Seny Dieng had very little to do and has picked the ball out of the net three times." That second goal had a huge bearing on the outcome of the game.

Here, he could have had a couple – at least – inside the opening 15 minutes. Alas, Critchley’s side had managed only a solitary shot on target after some fine individual skill by from Ilias Chair, making his first start since returning from the World Cup with Morocco. They began the night in 13th. They had been waiting 38 years for a win over any kind at QPR. New manager, same old, as Neil Critchley’s first game at Loftus Road ends in a home defeat. Reaction | Rob Edwards on superb QPR win! (lutontown.co.uk)

Manager Rob Edwards was full of praise for a 'fantastic result' as Luton Town secured a first win at Queens Park Rangers since 1984.

To get the second when we did so early in the second half really just settled us down and I thought we managed the game pretty well." I’m really pleased he got the rewards tonight with a couple of goals because he’s worked very hard and in the last few games not had too much of a sniff. We’ve got to give QPR because they’re a good team but I thought once we got the early goal and went one-nil up, they showed really good moments, great control and I thought we were fairly solid in our shape.

Sky Bet Championship: QPR 0 Luton Town 3 (Kilburn Times)

Neil Critchley suffered defeat in his first home match in charge of QPR as Luton took the spoils at Loftus Road.

Roberts and Shodipo made way for Taylor Richards and Albert Adomah, but Rangers fell 3-0 behind soon after as Doughty thumped home from the edge of the box. But Luton took the lead moments later as Alfie Doughty found Carlton Morris on the left edge of the box and his low shot flew through the legs of Ethan Laird and inside the far post. Doughty picked up the first booking of the night before the break but the second half was barely two minutes old when Luton doubled their advantage, as Kenneth Paal headed James Bree's free-kick into the path of Morris, who tapped in at the far post.
