"The way we play was going to be tough on a pitch like that, but we were not going to back away from it. If they do score, we get the ball out the net and go again. "I've played in every condition and I'm more used to that than I am playing with the sun shining on a still day.

Joe Hart unconcerned by Celtic's earlier defeat to St Mirren (The Celtic Way)

The semi-finals of the Viaplay Cup might well have taken centre stage yesterday afternoon for Celtic but when Ange Postecoglou's side return to…

“If we spend time looking at things, even good things, you can get lost down a wormhole of things that happened in the past. But we are a confident squad and we train the way we play.” As much as something has happened, it's happened and we move on. They have picked a player who was ready to come into our system and our way of playing. It was a hard start for Ally [making his debut against Rangers] but he's done well and he's a bubbly, confident guy.” “We didn't get too low after the last game but we didn't deserve to get too low. [beauty](/life_style/fashion/beauty/) of the way we work as a group - we have daily reminders. They arrived early but weren't eligible until the start of this month. “It doesn't matter who plays in the team - whether it's Tony, Jura [Josip Juranovic] or Ally at right-back,” said the 35-year-old. Postecoglou has been busy tinkering both with his squad and his starting line-up since that defeat back in September. Like when we played them previously, we'll look to attack and win the game. Joe Hart accepts that on the day back in September, St Mirren were good value for the three points and deserved winners in Paisley.

The 27-year-old was in from the start against Derek McInnes' time in the place of a toiling Alistair Johnston who could only make the bench. Giakoumakis is wanted in across Europe and beyond and Record Sport revealed talks over a new Parkhead deal reached an impasse and a potential exit is now on the cards. And the lucky youngsters weren't done yet as one of them earned a picture with Postecoglou as the Parkhead boss instructed him to come over and get the snap.

Celtic reaction: Postecolgou's need to strengthen; irony bypass in ... (The Scotsman)

Celtic's seventh League Cup final in the past nine editions of a competition that was earned with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Kilmarnock on Saturday prompted ...

There would appear to be a section of the Celtic support who don’t do irony. It is the settled view of the courts that Orange and Fenian are proxy words for Protestant and Catholic. But the fact that, in turn, this doesn’t come close to what Celtic achieved under Jock Stein serves to remind how extraordinary that decade from the mid-1960s was for the club. “We need to and I want to” make the squad stronger, he stressed. The restlessness of the Celtic manager in his desire to upgrade, constantly, his playing pool led him to give the impression in his post-match chat he would be happy to push for a churn putting the entire current squad at risk in short order. In Scotland, even the most dominant teams can have their edge blunted within 18 months of their zeniths – it happened to Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic invincibles of 2016-17 and the Rangers team with which Steven Gerrard enjoyed a loss-free, towering title success in 2020-21.

Joe Hart's frank Celtic v Kilmarnock League Cup Q+A in full (The Celtic Way)

Just a bit. In a cup competition like that and in those conditions against a team that was more than in the game is always tough. Does it make it harder for you ...

You are being asked to be at your best all the time and I am old enough to know that is impossible to be perfect all the time but you cannot let anything go or your standards slip. At the moment I am with Celtic and we have got a huge support and a huge following and we just try and win trophies. Football is a business and stuff can happen and conversations can go on but credit to this whole group because personal and football things happen but the moment we wear the Celtic badge we are all pulling in the same direction. We try to be but Killie played well and they were on the front foot and put us under a lot of pressure and we were more than up to it. The moment they put that Celtic kit on they park it and get on with it. The way we play it was always going to be tough on a pitch like that but we were never going to back away from it. All the players are going through their own things and they have their own stuff on their plates. Well if they do score we just get the ball out of the net and we go again. I try and live in the moment and seize every opportunity that comes my way. That's the way I have always worked and that's why I love being here. We have got to be aware that we are not going to be perfect. To be honest, I don't think about cup finals it is always about the next game.

Sandman's Definitive Ratings - Celtic versus Killing Joke (thecelticstar.com)

Sandman provides his Definitive Ratings on The Celtic Star from Celtic's League Cup semi-final win against Kilmarnock at Hampden Park on Saturday 14 January ...

There was toil and there was guile and a marvellously disciplined midfield trio saw us dominate then forge through to a mouthwatering final against the Sheep. Then the big lunk goes up the park and seals the win with the classic striker’s dream of glory – a tap-in in front of the delirious hordes. ANITA DOBSON – 8/10 – Stood on the sidelines wrapped up tighter than Scott Of The Antarctic’s nuts, Big Ange growled his way through the storm and towards future glory. Climate change didn’t bring about the kind of change a boisterous Killie side desired but kudos to their ambitions – made a cup-tie Wetter than the Great Barrier Reef, he was able to bring a touch of class to the monsoon with guile and control and awareness that deserved the great goal he was denied by a fine save. Just required to slap on some render and deliver the invoice, which he did with some quality footwork. Yeah…Was a surprise to see him depart before the 90, but he’d been absolutely everywhere on that swamp and but for completion would have been another MOTM contender. And just when we thought he was done, back he comes for more in the final fifteen, hooking up with Calmac to run the show and see the win out. GET CARTER – 7.5/10 – 5 minutes in – watch the tackle that was a last-gasp all-or-nothing two-footed ‘gamble’. The money’s all in his electrifying pace, and we got it at plenty of the right times, bursts upfield to beat the rain, incisive forays down churned wings. And there he was again, and again, in the opening period – the main man on the ball and bereft of ideas what to do with it. Sharp as a Peaky Blinder to pull of a tremendous early save on the slidey surface.

Celtic starlet Johnny Kenny scores twice in first game for loan club (The Celtic Way)

The 19-year-old striker joined the League of Ireland side on loan at the start of the month following a disappointing spell with Queen's Park.

'I TRY MY BEST TO BE THERE,' SAYS CELTIC'S MODEST HERO (Celtic Quick News)

MODEST Joe Hart played down his role in helping Celtic to next month's Viaplay League Cup Final at Hampden. The 35-year-old 75 times-capped England…

“We kept playing, we defended when we needed to and we scored the goals when we needed to.” “They had a lot of energy at the start, but we stuck to what we do and what we do best. The shotstopper handed the praise to his team-mates and smiled: “When I’m asked or called upon, I try my best to be there.”

Celtic player tipped to leave after January signings (The Celtic Bhoys)

Over the past four transfer windows, the roster has undergone a major overhaul and other than Callum McGregor and Greg Taylor, there is no regular starter at ...

But he just does not have the experience or consistency yet to be a starter for Celtic on a regular basis. Yuki Kobayashi is a centre-back, while Tomoki Iwata is capable of playing in the heart of defence as well and some believe it to be his best position. Thus, a Parkhead exit might be the best step for him at this stage. I do not want anyone to leave Celtic but I think Stephen will want to play football. He will be a great player for another team. Celtic have continued to strengthen their squad continuously since Ange Postecoglou arrived as the manager in the summer of 2021.
