The TV presenter said in his column in The Sun that 'hated' the Duchess of Sussex.

Which is what happened with the piece about Meghan. “Usually, I read what I’ve written to someone else before filing, but I was home alone on that fateful day, and in a hurry. “More than 60 MPs demanded action to be taken. Clarkson later insisted he was referencing a scene from Game of Thrones when he made the demand. In Monday’s statement, the presenter recounted the backlash he received. His column focused on the couple’s media profile. But still, there were calls for me to be sacked and charged with a hate crime.

The sentence implies he perceives danger or threat from the readers for what he’s saying, when I’d argue the real danger is coming from him. In my view, the whole thing is a storm in a teacup; a turn of phrase in a column to illustrate a point blown up into some kind of diplomatic incident, as if a few words in a newspaper column are going to cause some heretofore apathetic Royalist to turn into a violent thug. Graham Norton summed it up well recently when he spoke on cancel culture, explaining cleverly that accountability is key – that people need to be accountable for their own actions and words. Particularly when it comes to male writers being held accountable for the way they write about females in the public eye. But no one wants you to deliver a health and safety seminar, Jeremy! It’s hard to be interesting and vigilant at the same time.

Amazon Prime Video, Jeremy Clarkson to Part Ways From 2024 (Variety)

Amazon Prime Video is parting ways with Jeremy Clarkson a month after his comments about Meghan Markle were published in British tabloid The Sun.

Prime Video swooped for the original “Top Gear” team in 2015 after the BBC cut ties with Clarkson after the host punched one of the show’s producers. The parting of ways with Clarkson and co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May came at a great cost to the BBC, for which “Top Gear” was worth more than £50 million per year, and brought in a massive global audience. Clarkson also reveals in the statement that he emailed Markle and Prince Harry on Christmas morning to apologize to them. In a fresh apology made by Clarkson on Monday, he says the streamer was “incandescent” about his tirade against Markle and Prince Harry. Speaking with ITV in a promotional interview for his top-selling memoir “Spare,” Harry said the column was “horrific, hurtful and cruel towards my wife. “I’m horrified to have caused so much hurt and I shall be more careful in future.” 16 column, titled “One day, Harold the glove puppet will tell the truth about A Woman Talking B*ks,” the former “Top Gear” presenter wrote of Markle: “I hate her. All the way from the balls of my feet to the follicles on my head. It also means that motoring format “The Grand Tour,” one of Prime Video’s biggest shows, will also come to an end. This means that the notorious “Top Gear” presenter likely won’t be appearing in any new shows on Prime Video beyond 2024 (though there’s every chance a final “Grand Tour” episode could carry over into 2025). Clarkson, what remains to be addressed is his long-standing pattern of writing articles that spread hate rhetoric, dangerous conspiracy theories, and misogyny,” the statement reads. time on Monday, hours after Clarkson posted a fresh apology on Instagram, and Variety reported that Prime Video was set to part ways with the controversial figure.

Jeremy Clarkson was already handed a second chance. He shouldn ... (The Independent)

Reports suggest that the ex-'Top Gear' presenter's lucrative Amazon deal may be coming to an end after his apalling comments about Meghan Markle.

When he first launched The Grand Tour with Amazon, with Top Gear lackeys James May and Richard Hammond in tow, there was a bit of bluster about it – the sort of “better off without her” posturing that sometimes accompanies a breakup. If the reports of Amazon dropping Clarkson are true (they have declined to comment so far), it is more than possible that ITV would follow. It was Clarkson’s physical assault of a producer that was the final straw, but his time on TopGear was peppered with problematic incidents. For many people, Clarkson’s charm lies in his perceived groundedness, his seeming like “some bloke down the pub” who just happens to know a lot about cars. “Go pick up some potatoes and say hello,” the parents would say. And for a while, it worked: The Grand Tour was, by most measures, a success. [letter of contrition](https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/jeremy-clarkson-apology-meghan-harry-b2263078.html), describing his remarks as “disgraceful” and stating that he was “profoundly sorry”. But you don’t need to do that to yourself: Clarkson has been loudly announcing who he is, on camera, for years. Later that day it was reported by Variety that Amazon was [looking to “cut ties” with Clarkson](https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/jeremy-clarkson-amazon-contract-meghan-b2263470.html), and would not be renewing either of the projects he fronts. The former Top Gear presenter was shockingly, almost inexplicably vitriolic in his words, writing that he hated the Duchess of Sussex “on a cellular level” and dreamed of her being “made to parade naked through the streets” while crowds pelted her with excrement. This was a man who joked about the murder of sex workers, who made homophobic and racist remarks on multiple occasions – including an incident when he allegedly mumbled the “N-word” on camera while reciting a children’s rhyme. But no one had a right to be surprised.

Jeremy Clarkson vs Meghan Markle in full - vile forgotten comment ... (Mirror.co.uk)

Clarkson's misogynistic column was taken down after it received a fierce backlash, prompting him to send an apology email on Christmas day, saying he was " ...

"And yet I seemed to be advocating just that. So I picked up a copy of The Sun to see what all the fuss was about. "Usually, I read what I’ve written to someone else before filing, but I was home alone on that fateful day, and in a hurry. Which is what happened with the piece about Meghan." "It was a slow rumble to start with and I ignored it. I'd been thinking of a scene in Games Of Thrones, but I'd forgotten to mention this. All the way from the balls of my feet to the follicles on my head. In a column I wrote about Meghan, I made a clumsy reference to a scene in Game of Thrones and this has gone down badly with a great many people. I think the expression "get a grip" needs to come back into the lexicon as soon as possible. "But I mean, as a general rule, you've got to get a grip. and throw lumps of excrement at her," he shockingly wrote. and throw excrement at her."

The real reason behind Amazon's Jeremy Clarkson 'cancellation' (Telegraph.co.uk)

The controversy around The Grand Tour host's Duchess of Sussex column hides a simple fact – his huge Amazon contract no longer makes sense.

While he’s still “away” from The Sun, he’s still scribbling for the Sunday Times. Once the 36 episodes were finished, Amazon shifted the show to a series of on the road specials, loosely grouped under two seasons – but the enormous cost of flying huge teams around the world to crash cars in a series of widely spaced one-offs doesn’t fit the current streaming market. And for Parrot, 64 per cent of all shows fit into the average demand window – putting Jezza in the bottom 20 per cent of all shows watched in America. When the deal was first signed, back in 2016, Amazon agree to shell out $80 million per season for 36 episodes over three years. While the presenter admitted that Amazon were “incandescent” over his controversial column in The Sun, there are other reasons for the deal to end. Clarkson’s problem, from Amazon’s point of view, is that he’s very expensive and doesn’t rate well outside the UK.

Prince Harry and Meghan respond to Jeremy Clarkson apology (Gloucestershire Live)

The former Top Gear host posted a statement on Instagram saying he emailed the Sussexes to say sorry.

In it, he said he "really is sorry" for what he said in the controversial column – all the way "from the balls of my feet to the follicles on my head". I therefore wrote to everyone who works with me saying how sorry I was and then on Christmas morning, I emailed Harry and Meghan in California to apologise to them too. Clarkson described the moment he picked up a copy of the Sun to "see what all the fuss was about". "I was very angry with myself because in all those controversial days on Top Gear, when I was accused of all sorts of things, it was very rarely sexism. "Usually, I read what I’ve written to someone else before filing, but I was home alone on that fateful day, and in a hurry. But still, there were calls for me to be sacked and charged with a hate crime. All the way from the balls of my feet to the follicles on my head. I’d been thinking of a scene in Games Of Thrones, but I’d forgotten to mention this. He said: "One of the strange things I’ve noticed in recent times is that whenever an MP or a well-known person is asked to apologise for something, no matter how heartfelt or profound that apology may be, it’s never enough for the people who called for it in the first place. "While a new public apology has been issued today by Mr Clarkson, what remains to be addressed is his long-standing pattern of writing articles that spread hate rhetoric, dangerous conspiracy theories and misogyny. Clarkson, 62, posted a statement on Instagram saying he emailed the Sussexes to apologise for the controversial column. He later likened the comments to a scene from TV show Game of Thrones.
