Derby County's impressive Sky Bet League One form continued with a thumping 5-0 victory over Morecambe on Saturday afternoon.
There was 20 minutes still to play at this point and the Rams were showing no signs of taking their foot off of the gas. Haydon Roberts did brilliantly down the left and his low cross evaded everyone apart from Mendez-Laing who was waiting at the back post. There was absolutely no doubt about who was going to step up for the penalty and Collins threw the ball straight to McGoldrick who was eagerly awaiting the ball on the spot.
David McGoldrick scored his third hat-trick of the season as his ruthless treble helped Derby County thrash Morecambe 5-0 at Pride Park.
But this was the on-loan Everton winger's best performance in a Derby shirt this season. The only thing missing from such a blistering demonstration of wing play was the goal his performance deserved. Have your say in the comments section. The deadline day addition looks like a very shrewd move indeed. The result was a breathless performance of attacking football that could have yielded more than the five goals with which Derby ended the game. But what was most impressive was his awareness. It was no more than Derby deserved for a dominant display that keeps Warne's side firmly in the automatic promotion chase. What was so impressive, however, was the way this Derby team smelled blood. And then immediately after the restart, the former Sheffield United striker made it 2-0 when he lashed in on the half-volley after good work by Nathaniel Mendez-Laing. The quest for automatic promotion is game on. First impressions count for a lot and White certainly showed us why Spurs are excited about his potential. He was on the pitch for 30 minutes and almost crowned a sizzling cameo with a goal only for Korey Smith to block his volley which looked destined to find the back of the net.
