Is it finally time for us to see [Metroid Prime 4 ](https://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/metroid-prime-4-release-date-trailer-gameplay-story-news/)in action? Nintendo’s official description for today’s showcase is fairly vague, only stating that it will contain “information mostly focused on Nintendo Switch games launching in the first half of 2023.” Thankfully, we have a pretty clear idea of which games that’s likely referring to. The first Nintendo Direct of 2023 will start at 2 p.m. Of course, sites like IGN and GameSpot and various Nintendo influencers will likely co-stream the event as well. Eaton Corvinus says: This is going to be a once-in-a-lifetime event! samharper says: Can't wait to see what new Wii U and 3DS games I'll be able to buy from the eShop on the 28th of March 2023And yet I'm still going to be whooping with delight at the prospect of spending another £40 on a game I already own if they announce Xenoblade Chronicles X. Gave up hope of Twilight Princess & Windwaker re-releases.I'd love for those ports to appear now, but also I imagine they'll be full-price and maybe Nintendo wants us to save our money for Tears of the Kingdom? I'd take a port of GX, to be honest. Such a different culture to the dude-i-ness of the exbox shows. Go on then, spill the beans - are we really going to see a new F-Zero tonight? What a time to be alive! Arms was beautiful, but alas I think it will be the only one of its kind. It definitely feels like the right way to play the game too. hazywaze says: I love the formal style of the execs. Tonight's the big one - or at least it really should be - in which the veil will be properly lifted from the next big Zelda and we finally learn more about Tears of the Kingdom. I'll be doing a proper goodbye in due course but I wanted to say a fond farewell to everyone here.

Nintendo Direct: what we want to see from The Legend of Zelda ... (Mirror.co.uk)

The first trailer for Tears of the Kingdom was released during Nintendo's E3 2019 presentation; since then we've had two more trailers. We've seen a grand total ...

It’s very possible that we won’t actually hear much about The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom tonight. The biggest criticism towards Breath of the Wild was definitely the lack of traditional Zelda dungeons seen in every game since A Link to the Past. However, it looks like Tears of the Kingdom could be even more expensive. Especially compared to the mediocre-looking titles the likes of Ubisoft are charging the same price for, like Skull and Bones. On the other hand, classic The Legend of Zelda dungeons revolved around finding a specific key item which was required to solve the puzzles within them. Perhaps we could see a similar move made for Tears of the Kingdom. Considering that Tears of the Kingdom is rumoured to be the [last major release](https://www.mirror.co.uk/gaming/nintendo-switch-2-release-set-29124575) for the almost six-year-old [Nintendo Switch](https://www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/nintendo-switch) console, we're hoping to see a deep-dive into the title, to see how it plans to differentiate itself from the incredible [The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild](https://www.mirror.co.uk/tech/legend-zelda-breath-wild-review-9928480). For those unfamiliar, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask reused assets from Ocarina of Time. The first trailer saw Link and Zelda exploring an underground cave and discovering the dishevelled corpse of what looks like Ganon. I can’t imagine they’ll suddenly deviate and make a highly-cinematic experience that holds your hand the entire game, but that sense of wonder and discovery needs to be kept for the upcoming sequel. What makes Breath of the Wild so incredible is just how freeing it is. Meanwhile, after the first 30 or so minutes spent in Breath of the Wild, you can do whatever you want.

While I highly doubt that Pikmin 4 will launch in the first half of 2023, I would be shocked if we didn't get a look at everyone's favourite little plant guys in tonight's direct. Not much is known about the title as of yet, so I imagine a decent chunk of time will be dedicated to it during the presentation. Japan's Nintendo Direct Had A Very Nice Surprise (Kotaku)

[I said at the end of my Shin-Chan blog](https://kotaku.com/shin-chan-my-summer-vacation-boku-no-natsuyasumi-1849504058) that “I can only hope this one sells enough, or at least attracts enough attention, to convince someone to release some of the older games in English as well”, but that applies just as much to new games as well! Splatoon 3’s single-player portion was good fun, but we were hoping something a bit meatier would arrive down the line and ‘Side Order’ looks like it could fill that void. Nintendo Direct round-up: Splatoon 3 DLC, Samba De Amigo ... (Metro)

The latest Nintendo Direct showcase has revealed an impressively busy release schedule for the Nintendo Switch over the next six months.

The second game wasn’t released in Europe and was called Baten Kaitos Origins in the US, if you’re wondering where Baten Kaitos 2 came from, but we can only imagine the card-based battling was more popular in Japan than it was in the West as this seems a surprising amount of effort for such an obscure franchise. Ultimately, it neither confirmed or refuted rumours that Nintendo’s schedules will start thinning out after that, in preparation for a new console, but either way there seems to be plenty of interesting new games to tide you over for now. Since there were no farming sims this time the theme for this Direct seemed to be detective games, which is fine by us, especially as Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE continues to look like a lot of fun. It was hard to tell if there was actually any detective work going on in the game, or if it really was just a straight role-playing game, but it looked fun and a new IP is always welcome. Unlike the previous game, Octopath Traveler 2 is also multiformat and we already knew going in that it would be out on February 24. It still seems to be roughly the same type of graphic adventure but with a much greater emphasis on branching narrative and some neat new animated visuals. Each new emblem will feature a new story mission to obtain them but the real meat of the pass is Pack 4, which features a new story campaign epilogue entitled Fell Xenologue. For obvious reasons, Nintendo never mentions if games are multiformat or not but while Harmony: The Fall Of Reverie will be ‘first for consoles’ on Switch it’ll also be released on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Apparently it will be the biggest DLC expansion so far for Dead Cells, with two brand new levels, classic Castlevania weapons, three bosses, and a lot of fan service – including 51 songs and 12 covers. Dead Cells: Return To Castlevania was the first thing to be revealed at The Game Awards in December and very welcome it was too. Although there were no megaton announcements during the Direct there were a number of unexpected new game reveals, including Samba De Amigo: Party Central – the first proper new entry in Sega’s rhythm action franchise since the Dreamcast era. Which can’t help but fuel theories that they don’t have anything major planned after that and are getting ready for a reveal of the

Nintendo Direct: Everything Announced for Switch Players : The ... (The Indiependent)

The latest Nintendo Direct has revealed new information on much-anticipated games, updates and even surprise releases, as Kieran Webb reports.

Choices and decision-making play an enormous factor in the outcome of the game. Not only are great titles like Tears of the Kingdom and Pikmin 4 releasing, but players are receiving the chance to buy an overwhelming amount of new content for all their favourite games. Nintendo confirmed that a collection of Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games became available via Nintendo Switch Online after the Direct concluded. This includes the introduction of a new hero called Masha and rogue-like challenge battles in the Archsage’s Gauntlet. The new Deluxe remaster of the 2011 Wii game includes a newly revealed epilogue after completing the main story. Players follow Yuma, a trainee detective, and Shinigami – the spirit haunting him. The World Party mode also allows players to challenge others from around the world in dance battles. A glimpse of two usable vehicles was featured in the gameplay trailer, showing off a large land vehicle and an even larger aircraft capable of hovering. A new Amiibo of Link was also announced, granting access to materials, weapons, and special fabric for Link’s paraglider. An enigmatic look at the Wave 2 DLC, titled Side Order, showed off a cryptic single-player experience but did not reveal a release date. These vehicles could both be the same piece of some new Sheika technology Link will use to navigate a massive new world featuring a heavier focus on sky gameplay. Time will tell if Ganon is the villainous voice featured in the trailer, as it is not confirmed whether he will return as the game’s antagonist.

Nintendo Direct | The smaller gems lurking beneath the big hitters (whynow)

Zelda and Metroid Prime Remastered rightly hogged the limelight, but there were also some exciting indie games in the Nintendo Direct roster.

Still, the breadth of genres, styles and ideas on display is hard to deny; the Switch may be approaching its sixth birthday, but the level of support for it – both from major studios and relatively tiny indies – shows no sign of slowing down. There was the Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection, an HD compendium of three cult JRPG classics, and Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster, a revival of two JRPGs from the GameCube era. Then came Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time – a sequel to the distinctly kawaii Fantasy Life that graced the Nintendo 3DS in 2012. Sea of Stars, the upcoming RPG from the creators of The Messenger, has some beautiful visuals, too. Equally colourful is Harmony: The Fall of Reverie, a new game from French developer Don’t Nod. Nor was that the only title from Level 5, who must be one of the busiest developers in Japan. There was also Professor Layton and the World of Steam, a continuation of its long-running adventure-puzzler series. The sentient radish-wrangling premise is present and correct, though the big mechanical twist here seems to be the addition of a big, soppy dog. DecaPolice looks like another action RPG in the vein of Ni No Kuni and its sequel, albeit with a more mature anime theme than the Studio Ghibli-designed fantasy of those earlier titles. Then there’s the surprise return of Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective – Capcom’s macabre adventure for the Nintendo DS that was widely overlooked on its original release in 2010. Social media’s abuzz with speculation in the build-up to each one, and then there’s plenty of chatter about what was announced afterwards – whether it’s excitement over a big reveal or disappointment that Nintendo still hasn’t got around to making a new Kid Icarus game. February 2023’s Nintendo Direct was rightly dominated by The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, finally out on 12 May after what feels like decades of teases and anticipation.

Nintendo Direct: Zelda, Pikmin and the future of the Switch - CBBC ... (BBC News)

Nintendo Direct revealed a brand-new look at The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and a Pikmin 4 release date.

5 million more than the Sony PlayStation 4. Games such as Zelda: Breath Of The Wild have already pushed the Switch to its very limits, with players reporting more and more issues on the console with recent titles. [released six years ago](https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/39151202), the Nintendo Switch is getting old in terms of other newer consoles and the technology currently available. However, there won't be the same increase in the UK, as it will cost £59.99, the same price as the first game, and although expensive, the price is in line with the cost of most new video game releases. The game is the follow-up to the hugely successful Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, considered to be one of the very best games on the Switch. [waiting a long time for the fourth instalment](https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/64153731#:~:text=Nintendo%27s%20hit%20game,to%20the%20game.) and the big news is it's scheduled to come out this summer, with a release date of 21 July 2023.
