Sunderland vs Reading: Match Preview 2022/23 (The Tilehurst End)

Reading will be looking to build on their comeback against Watford with a point or three in Wearside as they prepare to face Sunderland.

The injury situation doesn’t look great though and that isn’t promising ahead of this game - but we can only hope that most of our key players are available. In fairness, they do have some good ingredients at their disposal though and seem to be on the up, something that will give their supporters plenty of confidence for the next couple of years. Getting to the 50-point mark is all that matters now - and that’s something we’ve said for a while. Burnley’s brilliance emphasises the hard task they have on their hands in their quest to get back to the top level. The absence of Ross Stewart is a major blow for the Black Cats - but the board should have addressed this issue during the January transfer window. A win for Paul Ince’s side would take them a big step closer to securing survival though - something that has to be their main goal considering the adversity they have faced this season.

"That’s the standard you have to get to if you want to play in the Premier League. But Mowbray said Cirkin needed a day or two extra before he could begin stepping up his training, although he expects the 20-year-old will be fit by the time Sunderland take on QPR at Loftus Road on Tuesday. Mowbray will welcome loan striker [Joe Gelhardt](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/joe-gelhardt-says-championship-tougher-26163966) back into the mix today after he was cup-tied in midweek. "We're trying to give him the time he needs. Striker [Gelhardt](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/all-about/joe-gelhardt) joined the Black Cats on loan from Leeds United late in the transfer window and made his debut in last weekend's Championship draw at Millwall, having been ineligible for the FA Cup fourth tie - and replay - against Fulham because he is cup-tied. He doesn't communicate much other than with the young French kids we have in the squad because at this stage he doesn't really have any English Mowbray said: "Isaac is available, his work permit and his registration is through so this is the first game where has been available for us.
