Best dog beds for chewers – no more shredded beds (Horse & Hound)

If your dog is prone to tearing his bed to shreds or ripping out the stuffing, take a look at this selection of best dog beds for chewers.

The material is 100% stain-proof. This durable dog bed is made from tightly woven polyester Oxford fabric with a waterproof coating on the underside. Many customers add a fleece on top for extra comfort. The elevated design is believed to keep dogs cool, hygienic, and free of odours. It is designed to fit inside a dog crate, but can equally go straight on the floor. This super hard-wearing and scratch-proof dog bed is made from a fully waterproof polyester fabric. It’s marketed “for the diggers, the working, the dirty and the wild dog”. This chew-proof bed is composed of rustless aluminium frame and textilene mesh fabric (PVC-coated woven polyester non-stretch yarn). The sewn cover is easily removed and replaced for washing, while the elevated position – 14cm off the floor – and side wall panels keeps the draughts, cold floors and condensation away, so your dog stays cool in summer and warm in winter. Most chew-proof dog beds tend to look less appealing to human eyes, with durability the key concern. Not to mention hoovering up the expensive fluffy remnants… Heavy-duty fabrics such as canvas or PVC are especially durable, and can resist some fairly persistent chewing.

Soon after Peter Pan barked that he'd found something, a team of Turkish miners digging on the opposite side of the debris field announce that they've made contact with a woman and a child trapped at their site. This time Peter Pan stops in front of an opening in the debris and starts barking energetically. Leyla Yilmaz who used to live in the building is watching them work. Based on that I've asked our base camp to send the rest of a rescue squad. Another group of men using a backhoe are extracting bodies from a section of the rubble adjacent to where the USAID team is working. Paul Serzan, one of the K-9 search and rescue specialists on the team, says the dogs can differentiate between people who dead and people who are alive. "There are some pretty good void spaces because of the larger structural components of the buildings," he says. As the afternoon progresses, the USAID team is still finding nothing. He says people are incredibly thankful for the help from the U.S. A group of Turkish miners are trying to access an area on the far side of the rubble. "Everybody gives off scent, no matter if [you] just came out of the shower or you haven't showered in days," Serzan says. But Kovach says in other quakes people have been pulled out of the rubble more than a week after the disaster struck.

After watching him get overlooked by hundreds of potential new owners, Dog's Trust's Rehoming Centre Manager in Wales, Angela Wetherall said: “We are lucky enough to have seen hundreds of dogs find their forever homes over the last five months but nothing could really compare to seeing Conker finding a loving new forever family of his own. "He could live with children aged 14 or above but would need to be the only pet in his new home. "Conker is a fantastic lad who can be shy when it comes to meeting new people, and can react to some dogs when out and about, so we think this might be what puts people off adopting him. But although it might sound like the unlucky hound could be Bridgend’s most badly behaved dog he has actually been described as a “true gent”, leaving the team at the centre baffled by his repeated returns. We’ve all got a soft spot for Conker and whilst we don’t want to see him go, we are hoping that there is a local dog lover who has space in their home and heart to give him a family of his own." Conker has had to sit back and watch over 150 dogs find their forever-afters since he got to the centre, making the staff there all the more determined for someone to give him a permanent place to live.
