Carnival Row season 2, review: Orlando Bloom and Cara ... (iNews)

The second (and final) series is too intent on delivering a socially conscious message to tell a coherent story. Orlando Bloom (Rycroft Philostrate), ...

It’s a shame because if the numerous writing staff (there are 18 listed; Game of Thrones had nine) had ever calmed down enough to stop delivering A Message, the world in which Carnival Row is set is sufficiently detailed and interesting to support new stories and there is certainly more mileage in fierce fighting fairies. At the start of the second season, the Fae — including Philo, who we now know is a “half-blood” — are confined to the Burgue’s fairy quarter, the titular Carnival Row. The perpetrator must have been able to fly to have got him up there. Living under the fascist jackboot of the humans means cutting through barbed wire and avoiding sweeping searchlight beams, Second World War escape movie-style, to get out of the Row. Although the eccentric former “party girl” sometimes makes the news for the wrong reasons, here the headline is that she completely sells the role, even pulling off — to these non-Irish ears, at least — a passable Irish accent. You might not have fairies at the bottom of your garden but they are all over your TV.

Carnival Row - Season 2 Episode 1 "Fight or Flight" Recap & Review (The Review Geek)

Episode 1 of Carnival Row season 2 begins with Vignette and the Black Raven cutting the barbed wires around the Row and flying out.

All of our favourite characters return including the ever-mysterious Tourmaline and the strong and steadfast Agreus. Especially if it involves knocking down the annoying Jonah and Sophie a few pegs. Dahlia, the leader appears at the last minute and brands her but warns her never to go behind her back again. She goes to him and he feels miserable and dishonest as the guillotined fauns did not actually kill his parents. Dombey turns up and threatens Berwick while sending Philo back to the Row. The bloody and gory scenes maintain the dark and political theme the show has been in favour of. He instead orders the heads of the dead fauns to be perched on the wall of the Row. At that moment, Tourmaline sees some boys getting scared of a door and she slowly approaches it. The Black Raven return to the Row which has been turned into a slum with most of the fae and fauns living on the streets. She is worried about him and the fighting and he says he is doing it for Darius, his werewolf friend. He on the other hand is worried about Vignette as the next supply raid could go wrong. Kaine the Black Raven tends to his mate, Oona who seems to be on the precipice of death.

Carnival Row season 2 review: Orlando Bloom's fantasy series ... (Polygon)

Season 2 of the Amazon Prime show has made the Burgue world that Philo (Orlando Bloom) and Vignette (Cara Delevingne) inhabit feel much more contained and ...

What once felt like just a representative cut of the world now feels like it’s potentially a sinkhole for the show to fall into. When that gets set against the expanse of Carnival Row season 2’s expanded world, it threatens to swallow Philo whole. Without the framework of a procedural, the seams of Carnival Row feel apparent. Following the season 1 finale’s annexation of the fae and faun creatures to the Row, tensions are flaring and everyone is itching for a fight. Without the backbone of a mystery, the first two episodes of season 2 feel a bit overstuffed and aimless as they set out to make a brave new world of Carnival Row. Jonah Breakspear (Arty Froushan) is acting chancellor of the Burgue, trying to hold onto power and working with Sophie Longerbane (Caroline Ford) to further their political agenda.

Stream It Or Skip It: 'Carnival Row' Season 2 On Prime Video, Which ... (Decider)

Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne star in the final season of the fantasy series, back after three-and-a-half years.

[we thought the first season was](https://decider.com/show/carnival-row/) when it started, the second season starts all over the place. It feels like a few of the stories could be cut away and things would be a whole lot less confusing, especially for those of us who last watched the show before COVID was a thing. Even though the rest of Berwick’s squad thinks the former Inspector is a scum half-Critch, Berwick knows that Philo can help them get information from the people in Carnival Row. He’s not sure this is the way he should go, but Sophie Longerbane (Caroline Ford) insists that he needs to do this to exert his newfound power. It’s a harrowing fight, including some of the fae carrying people out to the water and dropping them in, but they get as much as they can carry, which isn’t nearly enough.
