Sunderland vs Bristol City live: Updates from the Stadium of Light (Bristol Live)

All the build-up, live match action and reaction as the Robins look to stretch their unbeaten run to 11 games.

Sunderland haven't really managed to have any controlled possession at the moment. It falls to Mehmeti again but it hits the side netting. Wow - it was great play in the build-up. It trickles across the six-yard box and no players can stick it into the back of the net! It was a nothing challenge. But the Black Cats look like the visitors - they haven't got anyone to hold the ball up in attack so it's been easy for Kalas and Vyner. Rob Atkinson has been stretchered off down on the touchline. Atkinson was stretchered off after 15 minutes with what looked like a knee injury before Mehmeti hit the post. Kalas has come on but that looks serious. It's poor defending as Pring's interception is picked up by Amad - he pulls it back to a Sunderland man who drives it goalwards. The Robins will need to be at their best, however, to pull off a result against Tony Mowbray's in-form side. They followed up a 1-0 victory over Reading last weekend with an impressive 3-0 win at Queens Park Rangers during the week.

Bristol City grab late draw at Sunderland (BBC News)

Nahki Wells converts an injury-time penalty to give Bristol City a point in a 1-1 draw at Sunderland in the Championship.

Nahki Wells (Bristol City) converts the penalty with a right footed shot to the bottom left corner. "The players were calm enough to be able to deal with it out there. On the penalty: "Our players showed a bit of nous out there. I believe we were the better side. As the away side we showed a lot of courage to play our game against a good footballing side. They had spells in the game when they gave us problems but I thought we were going to score a second goal but it didn't come.

Report and free match highlights from the Sky Bet Championship clash between Sunderland and Bristol City at the Stadium of Light as Nahki Wells scored in stoppage-time to earn a late point for the Robins. Saturday 18 February 2023 17:39, UK.

For the officials to be happy with players to be trampling on them on the side, is a disgrace. We have to wait for a scan. It is a little bit ironic that it would be a penalty that got us something today. But the important thing is we got something out of the game which gave us reward for another positive performance, the fans have had another difficult journey up here in yesterday's weather. "When Jack hit that one I thought we would get over the line, but a penalty is a penalty. And by the time the clock had reached 20 minutes it was clear to see why. The officiating again was irritating for both sides. Sunderland's best chance of the opening period did not end in a shot. It would have been more entertaining if it had stayed 1-0!" It was an entertaining game. Sunderland's opener came from a City attack that broke down. It looks as if we had the opportunities that could have led to a second goal and I thought we were going to.

Andy's Player Ratings: Sunderland 1-1 Bristol City - Late sickener ... (Roker Report)

With the victory line in sight, Sunderland conceded an injury time penalty against Bristol City that was scored, costing us two points.

Really strong performance at the back by Ballard, always quick to attack the ball and made a really strong but fair tackle in the second half deep into Bristol Cityโ€™s half, then quickly got up and tried to start an attack from it. Dan Neil: 6/10 Got close to the penalty but unable to keep it out.
