Dundee United 1 Aberdeen 3 – LIVE updates (Scottish Daily Record)

Jim Goodwin suffers pain as his former Dons finally win on the road and avenge Tannadice trauma.

But amid on and off the pitch upheaval, it's another dismal day for the Tangerines. But there was no reply to Ross McCrorie and Marley Watkins' efforts as Barry Robson made another impressive pitch for the permanent Pittodrie hotseat. New manager bounce? Another corner by McGrath is met by a home head and the defender's attempt is on target, but put out for another set-piece. Aberdeen seeing more of the ball in the United half here. Already United have the ball but there's a few shirts in white on the deck. They looked better in attack but again, dreadful defending plagued them once more. Miovski finds himself on the right and sweeps a shot low and into the arms of Birighitti. It's a much needed result for Robson on the road in what is bound to be a boost in his hopes to be the manager permanently. Goal to the visitors and a fine one at that from Duk. A ball across the United danger zone is free of Tangerine shirts and the midfielder is all too happy to step in. Aberdeen consign former manager Goodwin to defeat (BBC News)

Aberdeen consign former manager Jim Goodwin to defeat in his first match in charge of Scottish Premiership bottom side Dundee United.

Marley Watkins (Aberdeen) right footed shot from the left side of the box to the bottom right corner. - Fouls - Away5 - Home10 - Shots - Possession We've not done anything yet." We've looked a bit more structured. It's a couple of mistakes at key moments in the game which have cost the goals. The man who has replaced Goodwin in the Aberdeen dugout on an interim basis, Barry Robson, was not seeing the same intensity from his players and goalkeeper Gorter caused a bit of panic when he came out to close down Fletcher. Fox departed after last week's 4-0 humbling away to Ross County and Goodwin's United started in determined fashion with a high tempo. Goodwin was sacked by Aberdeen minutes after a 6-0 defeat on 28 January.

Dundee United were vastly improved against Aberdeen but Jim Goodwin's dugout bow with the Tangerines ended in defeat.

And when behind, his decision to bring on Arnaud Djoum and Anaku changed the game positively. McGrath had more touches than any other players on the pitch (82) against Aberdeen, created more chances than anyone (four) and made more passes in the final third (17) than anyone except Fletcher. [United](https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/sport/football/dundee-united/4194439/luigi-capuano-dundee-united-ceo-tony-asghar-mark-ogren-jim-goodwin/) exploded from the blocks amid a super atmosphere under the lights at Tannadice. And Watkins made the game safe when he cut in from the left wing — the case with all of the Reds’ goals — before curling a fine finish past Birighitti. Duk took advantage of hesitation from Edwards before dancing in from the left flank and, with the Terrors defenders reluctant to commit to a tackle in the box, clipped a super finish beyond Birighitti. A towering header from a McGrath corner was superbly clawed out from under the bar by Gorter.

With 10 to play it looked worrying for Aberdeen, but with another run into the box to put Birighitti under pressure, Clarkson pulled the ball back straight into the path of McCrorie who tucked home the Dons' second of the game. Graeme Shinnie would be first to ensure there was no chance of an equaliser, as a superb challenge on the edge of the box denied Goodwin's men an instant leveller. His goal was the first at Tannadice since Simon Church netted for Aberdeen back in 2016, but all the pressure was on the Dons to maintain their lead. Miovski's turn came next as he ran the ball to the edge of the box on the break, but his tame finish rolled to Birighitti for him to easily gather; Ramadani's effort moments later could only sail over the bar. Birighitti gave the Arabs a scare as he almost ran the ball over the line after catching a corner kick, but in a nervy moment for the Dons, Aziz Behich's charge on goal was sent straight through the box despite looking certain to be glorious chance to score. [Aberdeen](https://www.aberdeenlive.news/all-about/aberdeen-fc) put an end to their near six-month wait for a win on the road as the [Dons](https://www.aberdeenlive.news/all-about/aberdeen-fc) ran out 3-1 winners at Dundee United to give their former manager Jim Goodwin his first defeat at Tannadice. Ryan Duncan managed to head a promising ball into the box in the hope Bojan Miovski could break the deadlock, but United managed to clear their lines; both sides edging closer and closer to an opening goal. Duncan looked to grab the opening goal after an inch-perfect cross from MacKenzie, but he could only send the ball up into the air and give United time to clear the ball. It was a tough watch for Goodwin however, as his former side rallied in the second-half leave them rooted to the bottom of the Premiership table, while the Dons moved up to fifth.

Dundee United 1 Aberdeen 3: Instant reaction to the burning issues (HeraldScotland)

WHEN Jim Goodwin last sat in the dugout at a Dundee United match back in November, his future looked brighter than the Northern Lights which have…

But Goodwin has to improve his charges’ finishing in the final third if they are to stand any chance of staying up. The visitors earned three vital points thanks to a sublime Duk strike, a McCorie goal and a Watkins effort. He can hold his head high if someone else takes over in the coming days. With Kilmarnock losing 3-1 to Rangers away and Ross County being beaten 2-0 by Motherwell at the home, this match presented United with an opportunity to pull to within a point of their fellow strugglers. United, without a Premiership win in two months, dominated the first-half of the encounter. But when Duk broke the deadlock cries of “you’re getting sacked in the morning” rang out. Steven Fletcher saw a shot deflected narrowly wide in just the second minute. His star appeared to be very much in the ascendency. The 3,000 or so Dons fans who had made the journey down the A90 were, as luck would have it, billeted in the Jerry Kerr Stand and he had to walk in front every one of them to take his seat. But the abuse from the Aberdeen diehards continued once play got underway. Boos and jeers rang out around the ground. They gave their old gaffer an earful as he came out of the tunnel before kick-off tonight.

Scottish Premiership: Tavernier seals Rangers win over Kilmarnock (The Guardian)

Connor Goldson was on target as Rangers beat Kilmarnock 3-1 and reduced Celtic's advantage to six points.

The hosts ended the match with nine men as the unfortunate Omeonga then suffered an injury after Livingston had used all their subs and Hibs rounded off the win with literally the last kick off the game as Mykola Kukharevych tapped in. Livingston were reduced to 10 men early in the second period as Jack Fitzwater was dismissed for bringing down Matthew Hoppe before Chris Cadden’s pass deflected in off Stephane Omeonga to make the scoreline comfortable for the visitors. Josh Ginnelly scored two as Hearts tightened their grip on third spot in the Premiership with a 3-0 home win over St Johnstone.
