AEW Revolution 2023 is in the record books! Which match was the best at the pay-per-view?
For anyone else however, this would serve as the blow-off to a great feud between two of the top guys in AEW with some true violence on display. This would be utterly insane, with MJF nailing Bryan with an oxygen tank for a near knockout, some big nearfalls from Danielson, before Bryan would ultimately tap as MJF would retain the AEW World Championship in an all-time great main event. With Danielson locking in a submission for the final minute, MJF would hold on, not tapping until after the time limit with the match finishing as a draw before being restarted as a Sudden Death! This would finish with a bonkers finish, and The House of Black would win the Trios Championship! Page would nail the Buckshot Lariat, before hanging Moxley with a chain over the ring ropes, forcing Jon Moxley to tap out in a brutal, all-time great match for these two men. In the end, Jamie would be the MVP of the match, as expected, picking up the win as she would retain the AEW Women's World Championship! This would prove to be a hot opener for the PPV, with Jericho and Starks both being incredibly over with the crowd. One of the longest running stories in AEW would be put on hold after Christian Cage went down with an injury following AEW All Out. With there being no rules here, this would start with some hot offense out of the gate at ringside before the three would head into the crowd for brawling. However, the eight men within would attempt to give fans something worthwhile in the semi-main event of the PPV, with Orange Cassidy, Danhausen, & The Acclaimed being wildly over. The story on TV has been extremely underwhelming, and with this coming after the insanity of the Trios Championship Match, the ladies would have their work cut out for them. With Starks already having beaten Jericho, this would be another big match for the young star against Y2J, with the entire Jericho Appreciation Society banned from ringside.
The general consensus was that AEW Revolution 2023 was a two match show - and since AEW had ran Jon Moxley Vs. Hangman Page three times on TV prior to it, ...
Jericho Vs. Chris Jericho Vs. Hangman Page three times on TV prior to it, the old feeling of rapt anticipation was missing.
It's AEW Revolution with MJF defending the AEW World Title against Bryan Danielson in an Ironman Match, plus several more title matches.
MJF and Bryan exchanged chops, Bryan delivered a roundhouse kick to the head and Bryan hit a running forearm to the head. Bryan was back in to break the count and Bryan hit a running kick on MJF on the floor. Bryan teased a piledriver on the apron, MJF countered it and Bryan punched the left leg to break out of a move. Bryan did a kip up to get back up first and hit a Busaiko Knee for the pinfall. Bryan charged, MJF with a back elbow and MJF did a double stomp onto the left arm. Bryan took down MJF by stepping on the back of his knees and Bryan jumped on the knees to drive MJF into the mat. Lethal hit Caster with the fake Golden Globe Award on Caster and Jeff hit The Stroke for a two count. Bowens with kicks, Caster with a slam off the shoulder and Bowens hit a running knee. Orange hit a cross body on Colten, who finally left the ring and Orange hit a DDT on Austin. Moxley tried a sleeper in the ring, Page hit a backdrop suplex and a clothesline. Ruby tossed Saraya out of the ring and tossed Storm out of the ring. Jack shoved Christian off the stage and then Jack hit a somersault dive onto Christian on the floor.
For a show that did not have the greatest of builds, Revolution 2023 was a fantastic show that had one of the greatest iron man matches we've ever seen.
I really liked the start of the match and how there was a bunch of chain wrestling involved, really showcasing that yes, MJF can hang with Bryan Danielson. Going into this we all knew Bryan would lose, it was just a question of how, and we got that answer in what was one of the best iron man matches ever. This led MJF to go to the outside and with tank in hand, hits Bryan over the head with it where the referee didn’t see and applied the LeBell lock to Bryan. The match was fun, you had Orange Cassidy doing his thing which is great, there were plenty of interferences as expected, as it was a 4 way match with no disqualifications. Coming into this a rematch between The Acclaimed and The Gunns would have been fine, but the other two teams were only really added so The Acclaimed didn’t have to take the pin here. It was very clear coming into this match that the feud between the “Originals” and “Outsiders” had lost a lot of steam. This match was placed right after Mox and Hangman was the death spot and the crowd really didn’t care too much. Near the end of the match, Mox brought a chain in and wrapped it around his neck like a scarf. There really are two sides to this feud, the match they had on this show was incredible, as you would expect when you put two of the best trios in the ring with each other. After the match Saraya and Toni Storm who was at ringside the entire time went to beat down on Hayter and Baker who was also at ringside. This match ended up being a casket match mainly with a hint of a buried alive match at the finish. The match headed up towards the casket which was placed on the left side of the stage.

The match started slow and was tough for the audience to get into right away, but both MJF and Danielson worked fully committed throughout. naijanewstoday.
