Rhys Webb considers offer to leave Welsh rugby as proposed new ... (WalesOnline)

The Ospreys are losing the battle to retain star Wales scrum-half Rhys Webb.

Webb is just one of a long list of players who are likely to leave Wales at the end of the season. But the reality is the Welsh sides are unable to match the offers on the table outside the country, and it is an inevitability more stars will leave. Wales hooker Ryan Elias was a target for Racing 92 and Clermont Auvergne but he is now likely to stay at the Scarlets. The 34-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and has been in negotiations about extending his contract at the Ospreys. While players understand the need to cut costs to make the game in Wales more sustainable, the extent to which wages will instantly drop, especially for senior internationals, is too much for some to stomach. WalesOnline understands Webb's preferred option is to stay at the Ospreys but sources close to the player insists the 38 times capped Wales star is very unhappy with the contract he's been offered.

IKEA roomsets show reality of homelessness as 11million fear ... (WalesOnline)

IKEA and its charity partner, Shelter, have today released research that reveals more than 11 million adults are worried about losing their current home, ...

“With rents at an all-time high and no end to the cost-of-living crisis in sight, we’re desperately worried that more people are going to become homeless this year. Polly Neate, Chief Executive of Shelter, said: “A grotty hostel or B&B is not a home, but this is the reality for too many families stuck in temporary accommodation. Temporary accommodation, which can take the form of emergency hostels, B&Bs, one room bedsits and cramped flats, is provided by councils to qualifying families who are homeless and is designed to be just that: temporary. The stress of the situation meant that Sam had to take leave from work, and she worries what the long-term impact will be of her not being able to care for her children during this time. Each roomset highlights the cramped, dangerous, and grotty spaces that an increasing number of people who are experiencing homelessness are forced to experience when living in temporary accommodation. Meanwhile, 25% say that their housing situation is more insecure now than it has ever been, with almost a third fearing they will struggle with their housing situation for the duration of their lives.

Wales make new coaching appointment weeks out from Women's ... (WalesOnline)

Former Ospreys and Dragons fly-half Shaun Connor has joined Wales Women's coaching staff as their new attack and kicking coach.

With it being a full-time role, there’s a lot of scope for me to spend time with the players and make a difference, both in camp and with one-to-one sessions. Hopefully, I can continue the good work Richard Whiffin did in attack, and Stephen Myler did for kicking which is a passion of mine. We are excited for him to be working with us and I’m sure the players will are too." Ospreys and England fly-half Stephen Myler also held the kicking coach role on a short-term basis in the months leading up to last autumn's women's Rugby World Cup, which Wales exited at the quarter-finals stage to eventual winners New Zealand. I’ve seen the investment into the women’s game over the last 12 months or so and it’s only going to get better. Wales boss Cunningham said: "Having gone through a thorough process to replace Richard Whiffin who has taken up an exciting opportunity with the Highlanders, we are delighted to bring Shaun on board.

Or maybe, seeing as Val has fallen in love with Wales too, it might even have been her. Too late Val, your daughter has fallen for it, especially as it is bang on budget at £500k. Ellen thinks it is absolutely perfect, just what she had in her mind as the dream home in the country. Val thinks it is stunning too but can't help herself. But I'm sure, like every parent, she just wants her daughter to be happy and I think there's no doubt they will be." Val on the other hand is very chirpy. With the added benefit of James' family already nestled within the Carmarthenshire countryside, it seems the perfect place to find more rural peace. I love it". She gushes: "I love it! We're starting to feel gutted for Val.
