It read: "The show’s producers thank Morven for her brilliant contribution to The Bay and wish her every success for the future. Morven posted positively about her time making season two on Instagram, writing at the time: "Bye Lisa. Since The Bay, Morven briefly appeared in the Netflix hit Lockwood & Co and two independent films. Actress Morven Christie played DS Lisa Armstrong in the first two seasons but missed out on Season 3 and won't return for the latest Morecombe helping. Producers released a statement at the time as Morven bowed out from the show. While the DNA of the show remains the same, the change of lead offers up the exciting opportunity to place a new character at the centre of the drama and explore the world of Morecambe from a fresh perspective."

EXCLUSIVE: The Bay's cast had a massive shake-up with season three which saw Morven Christie exit as DS Lisa Armstrong.
It wasn't too long though before the show was renewed for another outing which welcomed DS Jenn Townsend (Marsha Thomason) as her replacement. "Joe [Armstrong] is a great actor and very enjoyable to work with so we had a really good time with that and I really much enjoyed bringing this other side to Jenn because she isn't just one thing, like all of us, she's many things." "It was great to play but watching these two episodes, it's very different, it's a very different Jenn we're seeing with this family from last year." "And one of the things I really enjoyed this year is Jenn is a lot more confident at work and in her position and so she challenges Manning a little bit whereas last series she was all [making shy noises], she's not that anymore. This time around, the main person Jenn is going to have to deal with is widower Dean Metcalf (Joe Armstrong). This new casting gave The Bay a new lease of life but took some time to get used to for both viewers and Thomason.

From the age of 13, she attended Oldham Theatre Workshop, where she participated in youth theatre productions. Born in Manchester, Marsha, 47, first came to prominence on British television in the fifth series of Pie in the Sky (1997) playing the waitress, Sally, across eight episodes. The synopsis for new episodes reads: "DS Jenn Townsend, Morecambe Police’s Family Liaison Officer, is working late as usual when an arson attack is reported. She must get under the skin of a grieving and complicated family if she has any chance of solving the premature death of an aspiring young boxer. The ITV drama, which welcomed leading actress Marsha Thomason to the show for its third series in 2022, is set in the seaside town of Morecambe. The previous series saw the introduction of a new Family Liaison Officer named Jenn, who is immediately thrown into the deep end when a body washes up in the bay on her first day on the job. Morecambe was the town of choice for the drama's writer Daragh Carville. Series three and series four have followed suit focusing on crimes committed in and around the seaside town.
Marsha Thomason returns as DS Jenn Townsend alongside a star-studded cast list including Erin Shanagher, Daniel Ryan and Andrew Dowbiggin.
Dean Metcalf is our central character of the crime story and played by the absolutely amazing Joe Armstrong, who is one of my favourite actors. As well as those returning to their roles there is also a brand new guest cast list this year. "As they face an overwhelming loss, Jenn must gain their trust to help Manning and the MIU uncover the truth of what has happened. ITV viewers may recognise Marsha from television shows including Cobra, The White Collar, and Lost. A synopsis for the new season reads: "DS Jenn Townsend, Morecambe Police’s Family Liaison Officer, is working late as usual when an arson attack is reported. The popular police drama starring Marsha Thomason as DS Jenn Townsend, Daniel Ryan as DI Anthony 'Tony' Manning, Erin Shanagher as DS Karen Hobson and Andrew Dowbiggin as DS James 'Clarkie' Clarke will return on Wednesday, March 8.
The Morecambe-set drama is decent enough, with a strong supporting cast, but its DS Jenn Townsend is a hard character to care about.
Townsend and co plod through the evidence while grumbling about police cutbacks (and talking about “robberies” when they actually mean “thefts”). The most interesting thing about her in this fourth series is the fact that her partner’s chaotic ex-wife has turned up and installed herself on the sofa. I wrote last month about the lead characters in Endeavour being so strong that the guest cast pale by comparison.

Parc Eirias Hotel Ltd has applied for permission to convert the building into a 56-bedroom hotel.
"It is listed as an excellent example of the eclectic arts and craft architecture of Percy Worthington which combines bold, picturesque massing with retained and consistent detailing in a building of considerable architectural quality.” Speaking in November, Carol-Lynn Robbins, one of the company’s three directors, together with husband Ian and Hannah Lawton-Jones, said: “We are all very, very excited. The planning application says the hotel will create 12 full-time and six part-time jobs. The developers will also have to install pipework and vents since every bedroom will have ensuite facilities. The lift will be retained and the original parquet flooring on the ground floor restored. The latest plans reveal there will be 21 ensuite bedrooms on the ground floor, 19 on the first floor, and 16 on the second floor, together with store rooms and office space.
Metro operator Nexus said that it was “in the interests of customer safety” to keep Whitley Bay closed until late March, while engineers are making repairs.
Mr Lewis added: “Whitley Bay Metro Station is a high priority for us and we have worked hard to maintain and develop the station since the previous £7m renovation project completed in 2008. We are now providing a taxi shuttle from Whitley Bay station to the nearest alternative for people who may find walking difficult. A contract for that refurbishment scheme was close to being awarded before the storm damage last month. Huw Lewis, Nexus’ customer services director, said: “We understand the significant disruption the station closure is causing to local people and businesses in Whitley Bay. The “extensive” repairs mean that commuters will have to keep using either Monkseaton or Cullercoats stations instead, while the works will also require a line closure between North Shields and Monkseaton on the weekend of March 25-26. Our contractor cannot complete this work in areas closest to the railway line without stopping trains and turning the power off.

The Studland Bay Marine Partnership has successfully raised £66000 for the installation of new eco-moorings to help preserve the seabed.
With dwindling seahorse numbers across the UK, simple steps such as the installation of eco-moorings bring space and time for recovery and will help breathe new life at Studland. Although the increase was, in part, due to a downturn in traffic during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Seahorse Trust said the turnaround made the case for conservation at Studland Bay ‘clearer than ever.’ ‘The seagrass beds in the bay play an important role in supporting our marine biodiversity and are home to protected species, including seahorses, as well as being nursery grounds for fish stocks.’ ‘These vital funds will enable further protection for the precious seahorse population at Studland Bay. Seagrass is an essential habitat for seahorses and other aquatic species such as undulate rays and bass. Once installed, the new moorings will enable seabed restoration and protect the bay’s seagrass meadows from being damaged by anchors.
Jenn Townsend is back for another series of the ITV crime drama and actor Marsha Thomason reveals what to expect...
And I didn't know that he had done it, and I also didn't know that he knew that he was the one who done it. It's good that we don't know, because then we get to play it just like the cops, trying to figure it out. I would hate to subconsciously signify that this person I'm in the scene with is the one. And the thing is, the kind of work that these characters do, it does have to be front and centre... My very first scene on my very first day was with the actor who done it. I agree, it was nice to see it flipped. Also she isn't new any more, and she really is part of the team. Usually that's a trope for women, so it was nice to see it flipped. I was quite vocal last series that I'd figured it out from day one, who done it. She's a little more feisty this series, which I certainly love to play. It was really fun to play that. There is a spanner in the works because Chris's ex wife, Erin's mum, is just all up in our business all the time.
