Best hotels in Orlando 2023: Smart-casual resorts and experimental ... (The Independent)

Nowadays, Orlando, Florida, is home to luxury names such as Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton and Waldorf Astoria, among a growing trend for smart-casual resorts and ...

And, in the classy confines of golf-club restaurant A Land Remembered, you might just have the best steak of your life. New York’s grand hotel was looking to take its traditional luxury beyond the Big Apple for the first time in 2009 and settled on non-traditional, casual Orlando. But its real pay-off is the 10 dining choices, including Michelin-starred steak and seafood doyen Knife & Spoon; Highball & Harvest, with its creative menu and cocktail classes; and Vitale spa café. [Orlando](https://www.independent.co.uk/travel/north-america/usa/florida/orlando)’s proliferating foodie profile. When eminent Rollins College needed a hotel for visiting guests, it built its own. It starts with the hotel’s extensive art collection and gallery, continues with the 247 velvet-enhanced rooms, and concludes with dinner at The Boheme, where the $170 Tableside Tomahawk steak is flambéed faultlessly. Fans of 1972 sci-fi classic Silent Running will be at home in this uber-cool domed environment encompassing 1,718 rooms and five acres of indoor delights that feel like the great outdoors, including lushly themed sections for the Everglades, Key West and Castillo de San Marcos in St Augustine. The fact the 443-room Four Seasons pulls this off with effortless aplomb is all down to the staff – who we suspect have telepathic powers – and dazzling facilities, from the kid-friendly water park to the signature spa, with its zero-gravity wave loungers. Providing true indulgence on Disney’s doorstep is a challenge, as it must include total child-appeal as well as deluxe trappings for mum and dad. Allied to the cuisine of Michelin-starred chef Akira Back at the super-trendy Salt & The Cellar restaurant, it makes for a spell-binding combo of sizzling flavours and modern design in a 126-room hideaway (on Disney’s doorstep) that is hugely detail-orientated, right down to the Zen-effect garden patio. Then there’s the Technogym-powered fitness centre and a robot waiter in the Michelin-commended – and fabulously stylish – Bacán restaurant. Then, hotels were designed as little more than a place to sleep after long days of navigating theme parks such as Disneyworld and Universal Studios.

The Hungarian capital is home to more than just thermal baths and ruin bars. Here are the best boutique hotels in Budapest for 2023.

Bold colours and metallic hues dominate this quirky hotel near the Danube. The Casati Budapest Hotel may look like many other elegant Budapest hotels – set in a beautiful 18th-century building with modern, chic design – but if you’re someone who also cares about your carbon footprint, you’ll want to book a room here. This 19th-century building opened as a hotel in 2006, but its historical character has been overwhelmed by the adventurous decor. Pest-Buda overlooks a cobbled street just minutes away from Matthias Church and the Fisherman’s Bastion on Castle Hill. Old-world elegance dances with modern style at the Prestige Hotel, where the original features complement the orange velvet couches and stylised crystal chandeliers. [traveller](https://www.independent.co.uk/travel), we recommend you make a beeline for the Castle District. Whether it’s a baroque townhouse on Castle Hill or an urban downtown sanctuary, Budapest has a range of great [boutique hotels](https://www.independent.co.uk/topic/boutique-hotels). The main highlight, however, is the food and drink. The gourmet buffet breakfast is served with a mouth-watering choice of baked goods, seasonal produce, cold cuts and gluten- and lactose-free options, and is one of the main highlights. Like many Budapest boutique hotels, it occupies a former townhouse that has been revamped to mix up the building’s original features with modern design. At the Aria Hotel, music weaves itself into the concept, with themed rooms inspired by classical, jazz, modern, and opera. Basically, there’s plenty to see and do regardless of whether you’re here for a long time or a good time.

"We have to deal with the rising costs of everything from food to energy to staffing, and many businesses are still paying back their bounce back loans"

“This is due to a number of factors including that overseas holidays are back to normal for those people who are not affected by the cost of living crisis. Claire Smith, president of StayBlackpool, said it was more important than ever for business owners to attend this year’s show. Hoteliers group StayBlackpool is holding its annual function on Thursday March 16, between 10am and 4pm, at Olympia in the Winter Gardens. “So what we are hoping to do with this year’s trade show is to share lots of information under one roof about how to make savings, and how to ensure guests enjoy their stay in Blackpool so they keep coming back. On top of that we have to deal with the rising costs of everything from food to energy to staffing, and many businesses are still paying back their bounce back loans. Jerusalem, city of hotels: The capital's hospitality industry, pitfalls (The Jerusalem Post)

Jerusalem is the city with the largest number of hotel rooms in Israel. Every year, hundreds of new hotels open here. By 2027, approximately 3500 new rooms ...

The number of overnight stays by foreign tourists decreased by 29% in the Jerusalem region, as tourism from Europe to Jerusalem decreased at even higher rates. Moreover, it seems that a significant part of the tourism is of relatively older populations, with Israel being less appealing to young people. A more in-depth examination of the data on tourism in Israel reveals another fact. There is also concern that it will be difficult to meet the Tourism Ministry’s goal of reaching 10 million tourists by 2030, as Israel as a tourist destination – especially for Europeans – is no longer popular. After a response in the affirmative, he explained that they were a young couple from Germany on a tight budget, and that they intended to stay at a small hotel in front of the gate. Taking into account the data from previous months, there has been an increase in tourism compared to the fallow period at the peak of the COVID crisis. The cost of living in Israel is beyond their means; they don’t even dream of staying at the prestigious hotels of the international chains,” explained a tour guide who has been working with Christian pilgrims for years. What emerges from the data is that tourists with a more modest budget stay at hotels in the Old City, and even in Bethlehem. In Safra Square, tourists can choose among a range of hotels: “The mix of rooms is balanced, including camping, hostels, hotels of various degrees and more,” said officials engaged in tourism in the city. Hotels continued to open in the city even during the COVID period – at least after the first quarantine – and continue to offer tourists a large variety of accommodation options. “In east Jerusalem, under the Wadi Joz plan (Silicon Wadi), there are 50,000 meters of hotels planned. Our city’s economy is very much built on tourism, and so hotels are the lifeblood of the industry.”

Richard Branson's Virgin Hotels property is open in NYC — here's a ... (The Points Guy UK)

New York City's most famed hotels, such as The Plaza and the original St. Regis, are centred around Central Park. But these days, if you want to stay in ...

The brand also has a standard and (in my experience) highly practical room design that separates the sleeping and living area (“The Lounge”) from the bathroom and vanity areas (“The Dressing Room”). The space is designed to be whatever type of space you need during a visit. With The Know, guests can score member-only room rates, upgrades and even offers for exclusive dining experiences and events. Later this year, a fine dining concept will also open in the hotel. (Pools are hard to come by in New York City, especially outdoor ones surrounded by some of the city’s iconic skyscrapers.) Taking up the entire third floor is the 4,000-square-foot restaurant and bar Everdene. Throughout the hotel, I found a fresh and modern yet eclectic and fun space. But these days, if you want to stay in the most dynamic hotel neighbourhood in Manhattan, you need to head to NoMad — a bustling neighbourhood home to flower markets, views of the imposing Empire State Building and some of the most exciting hotel openings in recent years. The massive building juts into the sky from Broadway between 29th and 30th streets (a prime location to reach most of the city’s iconic tourist attractions). You can see the red on display in the lounge area, where a dramatic, dreamy, curved couch and hanging red fringe ceiling installation are showstoppers. First, a larger-than-life, totally dramatic red staircase connecting the third and fourth floors. Designed by Brooklyn design firm Markzeff and architect firm Stantec, the building seemed to radiate light (at least during my tour) thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows in nearly constant view.

Are 'adults only' hotels legal in Spain? (Canarian Weekly)

The trend started with couples only hotels in the Caribbean in the 1970s and the first one opened in Spain in 2007 in Gran Canaria…

Normally, in order not to incur in said discriminatory act, reference is made to other causes that may justify this transfer, seasoned with other arguments that make the hotel to which they are going to be transferred more attractive to the family than the one in which they reserved", warns the legal expert. “The administrations are not excessively active when it comes to auditing accommodation that is advertised as only for adults. "The usual practice is not to deny, but to discourage families with children from reserving or contracting accommodation in said hotels," says Fernández. According to Hosteltur, reservations for couples increased by 14% after the pandemic, in 2020 they represented 51% and in 2021, 65% all of reservations. “The increase is due to the dynamism of the tourism sector, which, in constant search for new and attractive products, places this as an interesting offer for DINKS (double income, no kids), that is, two adults with salaries and no children. It is true that the tourism sector is focused on attracting tourists of a more mature age their average spending is higher", Díaz details.
