Produced some quality crosses and linked play well in the final third. Poked with a few jibes from the veteran before kick-off, Corberan will enjoy this important win in his quest to gain promotion with Albion. Replaced by Nathaniel Chalobah late in the second half. Huddersfield could have drawn level early in the second half, but David Kasumu dragged an effort wide with only goalkeeper Josh Griffiths to beat. However, after Albion failed to make any meaningful chances in the first quarter of an hour, Tom Lees came the closest to breaking the deadlock from a set-piece as his header marginally cleared the bar. Huddersfield have now lost their last four away games without scoring, while their ten-point haul on the road this term is the fewest of any side in the division. Home supporters were becoming frustrated with their side's lack of cutting edge in the final third before Conor Townsend won a penalty in the 30th minute. Offered the composure Albion needed while fans were demanding. Had very little to do against a toothless Huddersfield side, but when he was called into action, Griffiths responded well. The victory over Neil Warnock's side lifts Albion up to eighth, with only three points now separating them from the Millwall, who currently occupy the final play-off position. Shuffled across to the right wing in the second period, but the quantity of balls put into the box reduced as a result. Won the penalty in the first half and looked assured in the Albion back four.

Town get a little move going and Koroma plays it into the box for Diarra, but he slips as he runs to get onto it, as is his way. He was under pressure from a defender and scoring was a big ask, but that's an awful effort - needed to at least test the keeper and hope for a fortunate rebound. What a way to get into the game. Dangerous move again, and Dike has a shot deflected over the bar. Kasumu makes a great run and Waghorn plays a perfect through ball to find him - truly an excellent pass. Helik ends up on the left wing for some reason and plays a nice ball into the box for Rudoni, whose cross deflects out. Corner goes out for another corner, and this one is cleared. Rhodes plays it to REG on the right, but his cross from deep is poor. A Town counter-counter is countered, but Town force them back to halfway. The keeper collides with Edmonds-Green as he lands. Town are starting to come into this game a bit now. And that is that.

With Huddersfield fighting for points to stay in the division, it made it very complicated to play against them. "Both teams had the motivation to get the three points to improve their position in the table. It was a competitive one, where two teams played with determination to get the three points for different reasons. That's probably the game that's pleased me the most. Everything went right until a silly, lazy penalty." Because of the way I was brought up I've got massive respect for every opponent I play.

West Brom 1 Huddersfield 0 - Report (expressandstar.com)

Fortress Hawthorns again saw visitors leave empty-handed as Albion made it 10 wins from 11 to climb within three points of the play-off positions.

Jayson Molumby with a nice crossfield ball and Jed Wallace helped work the penalty They were claimed effectively by Griffiths, but Albion fans remained on edge as the Terriers threatened to bite, but their attacking quality was typified by an ambitious and wayward bicycle from defender Michal Helik. The hosts were workmanlike once more to get the job done but it wasn't pretty or rip-roaring. The left-back was clipped by right-back Matty Pearson for a spot-kick clear as day. It was an unimaginative set-up from the limited visitors, whose small following must have known what to expect. He was, though, joined on the bench by the returning Tom Rogic, back from more than a month injured. The win made it 10 wins from 11 at The Hawthorns - with just one draw and a single goal conceded to Blackburn's Ben Brereton Diaz. Chances to put the contest to bed were at a premium but limited Huddersfield were tame and forced little-to-no threat on Josh Griffiths' goal. He switched from Jed Wallace in spells with the pair effective from either flank. The 74-year-old had taken a swipe at Corberan 24 hours earlier by suggesting the Spaniard's 'good agent' earned him the Albion job. Wednesday's trip to Cardiff, the final game before the international break, is a real acid test for Corberan's side, who have lost five on the bounce away. Much like Tuesday's narrow victory over Wigan it was a workmanlike display from Corberan's side.

Pieters lost the ball just inside the away side’s half, allowing Martyn Waghorn to send David Kasumu through on goal with Josh Griffiths. He forced Terriers keeper Tomas Vaclik into a fumbling save and, following Okay Yokuslu’s driven effort - which flew just wide - it was down the left flank where the hosts found joy. Thankfully for the home side, the midfielder passed up his opportunity when he poked the ball wide with just the Baggies’ shot-stopper to beat.

The Terriers put in a battling performance despite finding themselves on the back foot for much of the game, with a John Swift penalty the only difference ...

Jack Rudoni – Hard work as ever and tracked back to stop counters a couple of times, but not able to get on the ball in the opposition half as much as he'd have liked. Josh Koroma – Operated more like a right-back than the winget he was nominally supposed to be - not his natural game, but stood up to it as well as he could. Did his part to help defend the box as required. Jonathan Hogg – Tasked with keeping John Swift quiet from open play and largely succeeded, though most of West Brom's game plan focused on the flanks in any case. Josh Ruffels – Dragged out of position to open up space a couple of times early on before cottoning on and closing the gap with help from Jackson and Kasumu. 6

Carlos Corberan: West Brom needed patience in Huddersfield win (expressandstar.com)

Carlos Corberan was happy to see Albion's patient approach pay off as they made it 10 Hawthorns wins from 11 to stay in the top-six fight.

"Like I said, I am always focused on how I could help my team and trying to analyse the opponent a lot. You need to know how to move the opponent, to keep the ball and surprise in some moments that demand specific behaviours. "I have massive respect for him. I like what I see winning the football games, this is the consequence to perform very well." "My mind is only on this. "In some moments we did well but in some we need to do better, the team was playing with enough patience in attack, especially in the first half, and with necessary competitive commitment to achieve the points."
