The largest show of it's kind in the world, thousands of dog lovers have attended the event at Birmingham's NEC over the last few days.
The Best in Show award at Crufts has been announced this evening. The winners of the Gundog, Working, Pastoral, Terrier, Hound, Utility and Toy dogs categories competed to be crowned the Best in Show by the Crufts head judge. The winners of the Gundog, Working, Pastoral, Terrier, Hound, Utility and Toy dogs categories were competing for 2023’s Best in Show title. Orca beat more than 19,000 pooches from around the globe over the last few days to claim the number one prize. Thousands of dog lovers have attended the event in the West Midlands and the competition’s prestigious Best in Show winner has now been annouced this evening (March 12).
Four-year-old, named Orca, is first of her breed to take the top prize.

This is a dream come true. It went on to me and I’ve taken it to another level. Owner Ante Lucin was emotional at the news, speaking to The Telegraph he said: “It still feels completely unreal.

Unfortunately neither Tucker or Alfie were selected for the Best in Show this time round. [Crufts](/topic/crufts) has been running since 1891 and is the largest dog show of its kind in the world. [Sheffield](/topic/sheffield) and his Boxer, Tucker, won the Best of Breed accolade on day two of the event.
The basset hound, Sussex spaniel and Bedlington terrier at this year's Crufts are all based in the North East.
The terriers are named after the Northumberland town where they were first bred. And John McNally and Daisy, from Consett, won the Best of Breed for the Bedlington terriers on Saturday too. First up were Sue Mowbray and Luna, from Morpeth, won the Best of Breed for the Sussex Spaniels on Thursday afternoon. Luna's victory was followed by Liz Cudlip from County Durham who brought Bruce, which took the Best of Breed title for the Basset Hounds on Saturday. Owners will be hoping their dogs will be taking home the overall title of Best in Show, with thousands expected to tune in to watch the event on Channel 4 on Sunday night. The 2023 competition marks the first time that a lagotto romagnolo has won the highly coveted Crufts title.

So I think it’s really special and even more… Advertisement According to dog welfare and training body The Kennel Club, the breed is “lively and affectionate” with a “unique talent” for truffle hunting thanks to its strong sense of smell.
