Hugo Keenan: Juggled his first ball and was caught a bit for Jones' try. But, overall, it was quality again. Super assist for Hansen and a pivotal nailing ...

Josh van der Flier: When things looked bleak, he was handed the throwing duties in the second half, he was mostly accurate with throws to the front. He was also done for no brake foot and was unable to throw in the second half meaning he too went early. Knocked on from a Sexton pass but did well to go the full distance. It was messy at the breakdown – he was furious Hogg wasn’t binned – and not a style of game which suited him. Unable to stop Jones for his try and then ended up missing more tackles than usual. Hugo Keenan: Juggled his first ball and was caught a bit for Jones’ try.

How Ireland's bravehearts rated: Wingers Mack Hansen and James ... (Irish Examiner)

Andy Farrell joked afterwards that he may need to raid the Old Belvedere U12s for England, such was the intensity in Edinburgh.

Conan was huge with ball in hand and got his due reward with his try while Gibson-Park injected his customary zip into the service in a period where Ireland took control of the game. Got up at the lineout and gave some lip to the ref after the first try was chalked off. Back in the cockpit after a day off in Italy and started the day seven points shy of Ronan O’Gara’s Six Nations points record. Looked like a huge loss and this on the back of other recent injury issues. Had been solid rather than spectacular up to now and was held out on the line again, this time eleven mins in, but finished brilliantly for his try and leapt to claim a box-kick in the run-up to Jack Conan’s score. Solid rather than spectacular and had to come back on to replace the stricken Ringrose.

Mack Hansen and three teammates that shone against Scotland (SportsJOE.ie)

Andy Farrell's juggernaut Irish side claimed a hard-fought 22-7 victory over Scotland. Mack Hansen was sensational, but he had plenty of help.

The other Ireland star that merits a big mention is Cian Healy. What can you say about this man that hasn't been said already? In the second half, Hansen continued his stellar performance, with a number of crucial turnovers accompanying a tremendous aerial take in the lead up to James Lowe's try. Decimated by injuries, which saw the Irish forward pack ravaged in the opening half, a perseverant Ireland held Scotland scoreless in the second half, and ultimately eased to a three try victory in the Scottish capital.

Jim Hamilton Reveals Tattoo He'll Have To Get After Losing Mack ... (Balls.ie)

Jim Hamilton has shared an Instagram chat between himself and Mack Hansen, revealing the tattoo he must get after Ireland's win over Scotland.

"I've also got recently...Peter Dooley, his dad's name is Gerry and I call him Gerry all the time, so I got "Gerry Dooley" on my leg in nice running writing. When I got an actual face of just one of my mates she wasn't very happy with that. At the moment it seems like a great idea.

Ratings: Hansen in a class of his own at Murrayfield (RTE.ie)

Here's how we rated the Irish players after their 22-7 win against Scotland at Murrayfield.

Ireland's scrum was dominant with Healy hooking, which is a remarkable feat and one of the most important showings he's had in his 121-cap career. His try was the obvious highlight, but led the team in carries with 14 for more than 100 metres, while he also chipped in with a couple of offloads. Missed the target with three of those throws, but two of those were very late in the game, by which point it was sewn up. The Connacht wing had his fingerprints on pretty much every positive Irish attack; he scored the first try with a spectacular diving finish in the corner, he sparked the second try with a brilliant catch of a box-kick before offloading to Sexton, and his skip-pass sent Conan in to score the third. The only blemish was the offload he lost forward late in the game, having been stopped short of the line, but it was an inconsequential mistake. With a few minutes of the second half played, it looked like the day was going to turn sour for Ireland.

Hansen's cool head a tonic as he produces totemic display at ... (The42)

The Connacht wing earned this third player-of-the-match award in eight Six Nations appearances for Ireland.

Receiving the ball from Gibson-Park, he feinted outside and then back in, holding the ball for the additional fraction of a second it took to suck in all three of Sione Tuipuluto, Huw Jones and Van der Merwe. It’s mad to think that he has played in only eight championship games for Ireland. One of those key Hansen involvements led to a try for his kindred spirit on the opposite flank.

Wingers are asked to work harder than in the past, with Hansen recording 11 carries.

Keegan is an influential member of the current Grand Slam-chasing backroom staff as a performance coach. As a cursory glance of the 72-cap Ireland outhalf’s LinkedIn reveals, Humphreys has sat on Cricket Ireland’s high performance committee since 2021, a role he will vacate for his move to England. Not that Humphreys is the only crossover figure between cricket and rugby on these shores. In a microcosm of the team’s attitude across the board, Farrell et al are more than happy to take the bad with the good that accompanies such demands. Specifically, Crowley took issue with what he saw as a penalty try for an offside tackle when Ignacio Brex dropped the ball over the line. Yet there is no arguing that he was the best player on the park, Ryan’s best efforts not withstanding.
