To prepare for the Coronation of The King and Queen Consort we will be closed to visitors and worshippers from 25th April and will re-open on Monday 8th May.

The Commonwealth is an association of 56-member states with a combined population of 2.5 billion citizens, almost a third of the world's people. Minister Biruta, Representative of the Commonwealth Chair-in-Office, read from Isaiah 11:1-9. The organ was played by Peter Holder, Sub-Organist. They were joined by more than 750 children from schools and youth groups. Marking Rwanda’s role as the current Commonwealth Chair-in-Office, there was also a performance by the Rwandan National Ballet, Urukerereza. Its near-boundless potential as a force for good in the world demands our highest ambition; its sheer scale challenges us to unite and be bold.’

The Prince and Princess of Wales were greeted by the Dean of Westminster Dr ‘Let ours be a Commonwealth that not only stands together, but strives together, in restless and practical pursuit of the global common good.’ In each lies an imperative to act, and to make a practical difference in the lives of the 2.6 billion people who call the Commonwealth home. ‘In this we are blessed with the ingenuity and imagination of a third of the world’s population, including one and a half billion people under the age of thirty. The protestors are members of Republic – an anti-monarchy group that wants the Royal Family abolished – and they have said they will host a number of actions ahead of the King’s Coronation in May.
