I don’t think the horse understands how good he is, to be honest." "He was good and brave. He added: "I was surprised myself how I was over the last two fences. He has that bit of class, you could run him over two miles, two and a half miles. He has that bit of speed when you want it." "It just worked out, he gave him a brilliant, cool ride.

Cheltenham Festival 2023 day 2 LIVE results, tips and Champion ... (Mirror.co.uk)

The Cheltenham Festival enters its second day with Energumene and Edwardstone facing off in the day's feature race, the Queen Mother Champion Chase, ...

A racecourse spokesperson said: “Sadly Malinello sustained an injury in the final race of the day. It was a fairytale start for Rachael Blackmore on day one thanks to her victory with Honeysuckle in the Mares' Hurdle. Paul Townend is once again booked in for some big rides today, taking the saddle of both Sir Gerhard and Energumene. Here is a run through of the racecard. It wasn’t the strongest of races. He has been impressive at home and his win at Punchestown was very good in terms of the manner of how he won. One of the most prestigious National Hunt Meetings of the calendar is not to be missed…and we’ve got a bumper week of amazing content and great reader offers. He's a classy horse, and he deserves to take his chance in a race like this.” That was then followed by a [fairytale swansong for Honeysuckle](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/horse-racing/cheltenham-festival-honeysuckle-rachael-blackmore-29458121) and Rachael Blackmore in the Mares' Hurdle. Celebrate the biggest racing week of the year- the Cheltenham Festival. There might not be an obligation to be dressed up in your finest, but thanks to long-time tradition it’s a chance to don your very best outfits at one of the finest racecourses around. It looks to be a perfectly matched battle between Britain and Ireland.

Cheltenham Festival 2023 LIVE: Ladies Day race updates, results ... (Daily Mail)

Follow Sportsmail's live blog as the Cheltenham Festival continues underway on Ladies Day, with full coverage of today's races to come.

It's the only race in the Cheltenham Festival to not run on the main Cheltenham racecourse. Hello and welcome to Sportsmail's live blog for day two of the Cheltenham Festival. The Queen Mother Champion Chase is regarded as the most prestigious two-mile chase in Britain and Ireland. He disappointed in the Savills Chase but the prospect of better ground on the X-Country course should suit. I was impressed with him and he looks a value bet in the Brown Advisory contest. This season’s Paul Nicholls-trained winner Hermes Alle n looks well up to that standard and he can prove that in the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle. It was a performance that told you this six-year-old gelding had the talent to win at the biggest festival of all. Last season, Sir Gerhard was an impressive winner of the Ballymore and he made a winning debut over fences. It was great to finally get a Champion Chase last year and I think in the Clarence House he just needed the run over those different style of fences. This is my first ride at the Festival and it's all a bit surreal.' It is a teaming up of the generations. The ground then was good to soft in places and with rain expected every day between now and Friday.

She puts her head down, ears back and she just wants it. I just about had it in her. Spanish Harlem is near the back as the halfway marker arrives and looks to be struggling. Imagine is well placed too on the outside. This is going to be a heated finish. He ups the pace and storms to victory!

Cheltenham Festival updates as Ladies' Day brings the fashion (Gloucestershire Live)

Carol Vorderman arrives for a second day with more stars expected on Day Two of the four-day racing spectacular at Cheltenham Racecourse.

Yes, that’s right, day one at the Cheltenham Festival was one for the history books. The legendary mare was welcomed back to her rightful home in the winner’s enclosure to a sea of cheers, blue scarves, and overwhelming joy, making Champions Day 2023 one to remember. This year, Camilla presented the trophies after Energumene romped to victory for the second year in a row, to the delight of trainer Willie Mullins and jockey Paul Townend. However, the Jockey Club has now issued guidance urging people to come “dressed to feel your best”, whether that be in a sweatshirt and jeans or a glamorous dress and high heels. The horse racing fan then visited the paddock, where she met other attendees of the festival ahead of the Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase at 3.30pm. She was met by Edward Gillespie, the lord-lieutenant of Gloucestershire, who introduced her to Oli Christie, the deputy lord-lieutenant, as well as racecourse chairman Martin St Quinton and Mr Renton. However the day was compounded for the bookmakers when A Dream To Share gave a young jockey John Gleeson his moment in the sun. Camilla was among many who came smartly dressed despite the Jockey Club easing restrictions on what people can wear to its courses. Ian Renton, managing director of Cheltenham Festival, speaking ahead of the Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase said Camilla had already won one bet. Day two is traditionally one of the best days for people watching as well as horse watching. His owner Tony Bloom will be hopeful that that his Brighton side will give him a double reason to celebrate as he heads down to the south coast this evening having seen his horse win at Cheltenham as they take on rivals Crystal Palace. However, it didn't last long with the popular Langer Dan going in at 9/1 in the Coral Cup.

Cheltenham Festival day 2 live race card, tips, results and more (Irish Mirror)

The writing was on the wall along way from home as Energumene jumped his way to the front three out and never came out of fourth gear. The final race on the card went the way of the John Kiely trained runner, A Dream To Share. He travelled strongly through the race and once he hit the front the only danger was the fences ahead of him. Once he got safely over that fence there was little doubt in the result. The second last of the day is the Grand Annual Handicap Chase. A superb round of jumping put his rivals to the sword early in the race and he had just enough reserved in tank to hold on. Galvin went on to finish second with Franco De Port a distant third. Thyme White looked like he was going to play a big part in the finish before coming down two out. The races complexion changed at the second last as Thyme White came down and Dinoblue made a terrible mistake, that being said they would have had a big task on their plate to beat the mare. Take a look at the Energumene travelled strongly throughout and besides a slight scare at the third last, favourite backers had very little to worry about. Racing got underway with the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle.
