Battling Accrington Stanley lost out to promotion-chasing Plymouth Argyle as they ended the game with ten men.
Stanley started the second half on the front foot with Leigh’s ball into the area collected by Burton just before Adedoyin could pounce. Stanley were still in it, Tommy Leigh’s throws causing a few problems in the Plymouth area but the Reds were unable to seriously trouble Burton again before the break. Stanley started well and, on nine minutes, had big appeals for handball in the area from a Mitch Clark cross which were waved away by referee James Bell and the loose ball fell to Adedoyin whose shot was pushed out at the near post by Callum Burton.
Stanley boss John Coleman felt his side didn't get the “rub of the green” during their 2-0 defeat against Plymouth at the Wham Stadium.
There were a lot of fantastic performances out there. “I am proud of our players, we were outstanding in difficult circumstances,” he said. “We took the game to them, even with 10 men, and we were unfortunate not to get a goal.

Bolton had to be substituted during the first half of the Pilgrims' 2-0 League One win away to Accrington Stanley.
Schumacher said: "It's not too bad, Joe tried to train (on Monday) and in the warm-up said he wasn't 100 per cent fit. "He's good to have around the dressing room. Obviously you want your good players (available), and Bolts has proved when he plays he's a good player, but he has some terrible luck with injuries. I don't know the extent of it. He said: "It's frustrating. I'm not sure how serious that is.
In the aftermath of Argyle's 2-0 win at Accrington Stanley, Steven Schumacher seemed to be a man dealing with conflicting emotions.
They didn’t play great, but they’ve managed to get three points and a clean sheet on the road. The red card made it a bit easier, but credit to Accrington, they kept going all the way to the end, and we had to defend our box really well.” It was a climactically tempestuous evening in Lancashire, but nearly 700 Pilgrims braved the foul weather to watch their side gain three precious points, and at full time the sodden Green Army greeted the conclusion of the game with delight. “We’ve played of great football this season, and the lads deserve to be top of the league. He’s been a brilliant player for us and has contributed loads of goals and assists in his time. There was a nice moment for Dan Scarr too, who came on as a substitute to play his first minutes in around in seven weeks. He is a brilliant professional, trains really well and looks after himself. “In the second half, even when they went down to ten men, I still felt that we made it really hard for ourselves. One of the maddest performances I can remember as a coach. We kept another clean sheet, which is great, but it was a crazy performance. “It was a bit frustrating, there was hardly any football played. However, even if Schumacher’s Pilgrims were not at their best, they ground out a precious victory which achieved a couple of landmarks.
A deflected Matt Butcher strike and a late Conor Grant goal sent Plymouth Argyle top of League One after a 2-0 win over 10-man Accrington Stanley.
Plymouth sealed it when Danny Mayor fed substitute Grant in the 78th minute and he fired the ball low into the far corner of the net. It went from bad to worse for Accrington on 51 minutes when Mo Sangare saw red for two yellow cards - their sixth League One dismissal of the season. Plymouth opened the scoring on 14 minutes when former Stanley midfielder Butcher's long-range strike hit the back of defender Baba Fernandes and looped into the net, wrong-footing keeper Toby Savin.
The race for second place in League One looks set to go right down to the wire.
Ipswich have the quality and depth in their squad to say 'thank you very much we are far too good for this league' and march past Argyle, but Schumacher's men are in a great position to take it right down to the wire and capitalise on some favourable fixtures in tense circumstances. In Argyle's remaining nine matches they play three teams inside the relegation zone, no one above tenth position currently and three of their four home games are against sides who will likely have nothing to play for, after winning 17 of their 19 league games at Home Park to this point. Steven Schumacher's men do have a potentially taxing trip to Wembley in the Papa John's Trophy approaching on April 2nd, and a victory this evening would ensure that they arrive in the capital with their second-placed position intact.
Former Accrington midfielder Matt Butcher and substitute Conor Grant were on target in the 2-0 victory.
Accrington are really putting Argyle to the test defensively with a lot of balls played into their box. Argyle had 52 per cent of the possession, with 12 goal attempts, six of them on target. Accrington might be down to 10 players but they have certainly noit given up. What a return to action foir Grant. Accrington had 10 goal attempts, with three of them on target. The foul which led to that Argyle free-kick I mentioned in the last post was committed by Mo Sangare on Bali Mumba and resulted in a yellow card for the Accrington defender. Callum Burton is alert to the danger as Accrington's Tommy Leigh puts in a cross with the outside of his boot and the Argyle keeper safely gathers the ball. Mayor does keep the ball in play and gets in a cross which is headed wide of the near post by Matt Butcher. Against the run of play Argyle have a second goal as Danny Mayor plays the ball outside to the overlapping Conor Grant and he drills a low shot past Toby Savin into the net. Goals from Matt Butcher and the fit-again Conor Grant secure a seventh away League One win of the season but credit to 10-man Accrington for pushing them so hard in the second half. That means the Pilgrims return to the top of the table, by a point from Wednesday.

As the Sky Bet League One season enters its final eight games, Argyle Director of Football Neil Dewsnip is revelling in the pressure of the run-in.
“We know we've got a lot of hard work to do. We've got some talented people at the football club right now: on the staff, on the board, and most importantly of all on the pitch. “Nothing that we do is by chance,” he said, “It's not off the cuff. However, the job is not yet finished. Survival that season ended up being the beginning of an upswing that, with a few peaks and slightly fewer troughs, has seen the Greens climb to the top of League One, with genuine and realistic ambitions of reaching the Championship, as well as preparing to play in the final of the Papa Johns Trophy. “There is a pressure, but it doesn't come from the board of directors.
