Bolton Supported Living 'requires improvement' says CQC (The Bolton News)

A supported living service for people with additional needs is in need of improvement according to the healthcare watchdog.

A spokesperson for the council, the owner of Bolton Cares, added: "We are aware of the findings of the latest CQC report. "The report acknowledges the positive improvement journey already underway within our supported living service in the six months prior to inspection, including the recent appointment of our new leadership team within the service. "The report recognises we promote a culture of person-centred care and highlights positive feedback received from the people supported and their families about their experience along with our robust safeguarding practices. "While we acknowledge that there is room for improvement in our service, we feel that many of the issues identified by CQC are reflective of the challenges brought about post-Covid and the resulting workforce shortages that have affected us and the wider health and social care sector adversely. A spokesperson for Bolton Cares, which is based at the Thicketford Centre in Tonge Moor, said: "We are understandably disappointed by the CQC rating of our supported living service in Bolton. A report reads: "We saw the provider promoted a culture of person-centred care with innovative and empowering support in supported settings where there was a strong registered manager presence.

Bolton 4-0 Plymouth: Wanderers WIN the Papa Johns Trophy after ... (Daily Mail)

CHRIS WHEELER AT WEMBLEY: The late afternoon sunshine reflected off the white flags and jerseys of the Bolton fans as they celebrated at one end of Wembley.

‘The set-piece goals for the first and fourth were killers. ‘We said to the players at half-time that somehow we were still in this game. They were two goals down inside 10 minutes, which was all the more of a surprise considering Bolton hadn’t scored against Plymouth in their last five meetings spanning seven-and-a-half hours. Now there is a trust a belief and an honesty about us, and the fans have bought into it.’ They have been chasing automatic promotion for a while now, and anything less would be just as disappointing as this. Evatt wants to be back here again next month for the League One Play-off Final. ‘I want to apologise to our fans. We didn’t want it to go like that. There was a disconnect between the fans and the club. Along the way there has been some pain, hurt and suffering. Evatt broke off from the celebrations to embrace chairman Sharon Brittan. ‘When I first came here, the club was completely broken.

Bolton boss Ian Evatt says there is a "real connection" between the club and fans after their Papa Johns Trophy triumph over Plymouth.

"There's a phrase we use a lot around the club - life and football is a rollercoaster, but if you're going to be on the rollercoaster then the best you can do is sit at the front." "There was a disconnect between fanbase, town and the football club, and every club is the heartbeat of every community - when the club's doing well the rest of the community thrives.

Bolton Wanderers chairman's message to fans after Wembley joy (The Bolton News)

Sharon Brittan has labelled Ian Evatt “one of the game's brightest managerial talents” following Wanderers' Papa Johns Trophy final win…

“You have all been a key part of this and we wouldn’t have sailed to the heights of yesterday without each and everyone of you. “It was almost written in the stars for us to win a trophy at Wembley 100 years since that famous White Horse Cup Final of 1923, but Ian and the team had to work hard in every single round of the competition to achieve this proud moment. What a strong advertisement it was for the pyramid of English football.
